Howdy folks,

There is a GT PP1 that has the exact spec I’ve been looking for for years. It has been surprisingly difficult to find a car that is grabber blue, manual, pp1, and has active valve exhaust.

now, the problems. It has a moderate accident on its carfax, and it is originally sold in Canada then imported here, and it’s in another state so I won’t see it in person.

had a PPI done and they said the repairs are great, and had an alignment done to check frame damage, no issue there. Still has the chance of leaks or something I guess long term.

now, on the Canada front. I’m told Canada sold cars, you can’t know for sure if the title history is accurate, and it therefore is risky and hurts your resale. Plus chance of rust.

I’m leaning towards no go, but it’s so hard to pass on the spec for me. Really could use y’all’s thoughts.

It doesn't seem to be hurting their resale.
It almost sounds like you are making excuses to pass on it.

I’m not sure it’s accurate that I’m making excuses, I’m trying to balance the advice I’ve been given/my risk tolerance with the allure of the spec

20k miles and 3 years old it was either driven a ton during the short summer but more than likely it's seen snow/salt, it's a canadian car and lastly having an "event" on carfax would have me looking for another car but mine is a garage/weekend toy. daily driver would be a different issue and I'd consider it.

all depends on what your comfort level is and what you want from the car.

IF you’re asking me, I’d pass.

Ask for pictures of the underside. Diff housing will always be rusty no matter the year or location as it's bare steel same with driveshaft. The biggest point of rust is the rear bumper brace water from the trunk drains right on top. But it's fixable. I bought my 2017 from several states away in new York where rust is crazy and it's not that bad for a car with 60k miles. Pp1 manual, black. Personally if I had seen that I would've bought it in a heartbeat I wanted blue but black and manual was the closest I could find. If you have any questions ask away. I've torn into these cars pretty good. good luck.

Mine also has 4 accidents 3 before and 1 with me. All minor but to all 4 corners of the car. Accidents don't mean anything. Aslong as it was fixed it means newer parts and is nothing of worry.

I have 4 accidents on the carfax for mine it's nothing of worry. Doesent affect longevity (increases it if anything) and durability (also increases it if anything).

It had undercoating/rust protection applied at about a year into its first owner so can’t really see if it’s rusting

The other thing is it will be my first manual car. How do you like the MT82, is it bearable in traffic?

while shopping for a mustang in the southwest, clean carfax cars were all priced a tad higher than those with accidents so it does affect the overall "value" of the car. that was important to me. I looked at and chatted with several cars with accidents and all sold so it's not important to others.

there's always breadcrumbs left behind from accidents even from the best shops but I would agree that if done correctly should not detract from the overall performance and longevity of the vehicle.

what absolutely amazed me were the number of salvage/reconstruct title cars for sale. again not for me but it's definitely a large market.

I didn't know at the time of the accidents but it wouldn't have changed me buying it. They just don't matter. Now a salvage title is a different story. The reason it was salvaged is important aka floods. But being keyed can make a salvage title so I wouldn't mind buying that car if it was just keyed etc. Mine is clean title still.

Steeda spring, one piece driveshaft, op mustang diff and trans fluid and mgw shifter. I love it. Clutch bites higher than other manual cars but once you get used to it then it's fine. As for rust, I'll be cleaning up my bumper brace and leaving my diff housing/pumpkin which is always rusty and unavoidable but I'm not dropping the rear end to paint it. Someone recommended Krown oil undercoating so I'll be using them. 150$ a year to slow down or stop the rust is fine by me. Plus if any panel costed by Krown starts rusting they warranty it and replace that panel for free

This for me right here.
Especially the "event" part.

I’d pass on a manual for everyday driving, personally. Especially if you are in traffic a lot. Price seems a little high, but maybe it’s not. Have not priced a GT
