I'm trying to add a stock subwoofer to my '20 GT Premium which didn't come with a subwoofer. I found a stock subwoofer locally from someone and when attempting to install it I assumed the wiring harness would be behind the passenger side trunk carpet but I'm not seeing anything. Does someone make a plug and play harness for this? Side note, I added an aftermarket sub and amp a couple years ago so I have power in the trunk. I'm trying to clean up the trunk area and make more space so that's the reason for trying to replace the aftermarket set up with the stock sub box. I saw some audio threads on this forum but they appear to all be for adding aftermarket speakers/subs. Any help is appreciated.

The non-B&O stereo is not going to have amplification for the sub. You will have to have an amp. I would maybe find a place for an amp by the spare tire (easy if you dont have the spare) and have it power the factory sub you want to install. I had an aftermarket sub in a 2018 premium and tapped off the rear speakers with an interface... It wasnt great, needed a better unfiltered signal. You can turn off the bass rolloff to the rear with Forscan...not sure where you got your signal for the previous sub...but I dont think you will find a factory one in the trunk area (I could be wrong)

Thanks for chiming in. The factory sub/box I bought has a small factory amp on the back of it. And the car has another similar looking amp under the driver side dash (left of the clutch/brake pedals). Also, I have power running to the trunk with an aftermarket subwoofer box and amplifier that was installed by a stereo shop right after we bought the car. Trying to find a way to hook up the factory sub & amp with a plug n play adapter either connected to the stock system or from the aftermarket amp/wiring. Next option if possible would be to hook up my current aftermarket amp to the factory subwoofer (bypass the factory amp), I just dont want to risk blowing the stock sub because Im sure the aftermarket amp is more powerful than the factory amp.

I ran a factory Shaker Pro sub with an aftermarket JL Audio amp and a sound processor in my 2013 GT and never blew it. Of course I was careful with it and it sounded great.

Ask yourself if you will be satisfied with adding a woofer only. If the answer is YES, then use a Line Output Converter and grab a signal from a rear deck speaker and feed an aftermarket amp, instead of trying to integrate or use the factory amp that’s mounted on the back of your subwoofer. I think this will be extremely difficult to do, if it’s even possible at all. You don’t have to break the bank (if you’re on a budget), a cheap subwoofer amp will suffice. Just watch the gain settings on the amp to make sure you don’t blow the sub.

If you know you will want more from your stereo down the road, an amp interface will give you those options.

Pleased to announce my OEM subwoofer add-on project is complete. Since I already had an aftermarket amp and sub added to the car a couple years ago I decided to continue using the aftermarket amp with the OEM subwoofer I found. I turned the gains down on the amp to be safe and it still pushes plenty of bass.

I added some pics showing how I wired the OEM subwoofer with the aftermarket amp. I removed the main connector from the OEM amp so that I could salvage the OEM connectors from the subwoofer and amp. I then hard-wired the OEM amp connector to the aftermarket sub wiring.

I also added a pic of the aftermarket signal unit that is wired into the factory rear speakers to assist anyone trying to do this project from scratch.

I cleaned up all of the wiring and I now have a near-OEM trunk with no ugly wires with great sound. Very happy with the outcome
