Is that really true? If so, Ford would have to stipulate that someplace in their written warranty.

How fast are you going in that video when you're trying to put it back into 1st gear after coming out of second? Syncro in 1st have a limit to how fast the car is traveling, and typically won't want to go into first if going too fast.

The warranty says that racing your car will void the warranty. It also says in the owner's manual that Track Apps are for track use only.

That said, I don't think they'll give you any problems with this.

What's a tune have to do with a manual transmission? You don't tune in shift points like an auto.

You have increased power and torque with the tune, and therefore you have increased the wear and tear on the transmission. Pretty weak argument depending on power increase, but could be used if the dealer/Ford was being jerky about such things.

I don't think the OP has anything to worry about though.

I dont see anything that would be a warranty issue. Using the track apps does not void your warranty. Running it on a strip/track does, but not a 0-60 run or line lock.

Actually, TECHNICALLY, running it at a strip would not void it. RACING someone else at the strip would be considered against warranty though. But running solo, for timed run purposes SHOULD not void the warranty because you were not racing the car.... technically.

Can someone please post where exactly in writing it says racing voids the warranty? I have talked to two different people who could not find anything posted publicly that states racing voids warranty.

Actually, TECHNICALLY, running it at a strip would not void it. RACING someone else at the strip would be considered against warranty though. But running solo, for timed run purposes SHOULD not void the warranty because you were not racing the car.... technically.

Nice ... so I guess if the dealership download computer log data and it shows you've used line-lock 38 times and hit the rev limiter 17 times all you have to say is you did all that running down the drag strip alone or did all that on the street.

Ford has explicitly said it is "Racing" that voids your warranty. Doing a solo drag run is just testing the capabilities of your car. Racing is defined by being a competition against other cars. Unfortunately AutoX falls under this realm, so for those of you with autocross threads, be wary and careful about your information. I don't think Autocross should count but it is racing.

OP you should be fine, nothing you have stated in this thread would be grounds for voiding your warranty.

Lawyer jargon and all be damned, but all intents and purposes, I'm pretty sure what is actually implied is the following:

Running your car hard here and there to see that it can do it OK. Running your car hard for extended periods (AKA racing - road courses, etc) is not the design of the car. It can make a lap or two but we "FORD" did not sell you a Nascar, so it is not meant to be driven as such.

Of course all is to be determined on a case-to-case basis by Ford, but I'm sure if they wanted to be fair - I'm pretty sure that is the differentiation between "racing" and "not racing". It's stupid to give people full access to 435hp and then not allow them to use it.

6200 miles, stock everything other than the exhaust. I had the dealer changed the engine oil so far but that's it. Those miles are from 3 trips to Utah from Seattle (800 miles one way) and a few times to Portland. so mostly all highway. Do you really have to change the M/T fluid that often on these cars? I thought changing the fluid in my A/T F-150 ever few oil changes was overkill but a manual car????

Typically on manual trans you don't need to change the fluid hardly ever but from what I've read most people with these mt82 trans swap out the fluid for something better from the get go and stick with something other than the stock ford fluid. It seems like your case was most likely just a defective part that just went out. I'm still using the stock fluid and while I've not used the line lock feature or did a burn out as of yet until I replace some IRS parts, I still drive the hell out of it weekly to work and raced a few cars a month with no problems other than the body alignment which I already took care of at the dealer. Hope that the dealer gets you back up and running sooner than later. It sucks leaving at the dealer for long periods of time, especially if its outside when its a garaged car.
