My "sleeper" Boost Gauge install

By me as soon as someone sees a boost gauge it's an automatic cop out for most to not want to race. I've racked my brain on where to put it so it's still in my sight for the purpose I'm installing it but out of view when wanted to be out of sight. Tonight I started the install in the first from driver circle air vent. I'm getting damn close and when it's done I think it's going to be trick. Here's some in progress photos. Full install info and final pics will come when I finish it this weekend....

Where will you run the vacuum line through the firewall? I looked once and the only grommet I could find anywhere was the sound tube grommet.

I already have a vacuum line running through that grommet for my MSD pump booster so I'm just going to tee in off of that inside the cabin and then wire the illumination to be always on.....

Right on. I currently have a vacuum line for my msd booster running through the passenger fender and door jam and along the floor. I went slacker mode on it since I knew it was a temporary item for me.

But before I did that, I pulled out the battery figuring there must be a grommet behind it, but nope!

There are multiple 1/8" npt ports on the manifold for boost gauges.

The capped off 1/8npt hose barb fitting on the passenger side of the intake manifold that faces vertically up, near the fuel rail. I think its right under the jack shaft... might be covered for those who run the cover. I never installed the cover.

I had every gauge to possibly consider right in front of me (I have a wholesale performance company and went right to the distributors warehouse). I picked sport comp with a black face gauge because unlike a ricer I'm only putting the gauge in for its true purpose - monitoring boost. I had a gasket issue that prevented me for making boost because the blower was in constant bypass. It took me a few days to diagnose because I relied on the calculated factory gauge which showed boost because the airflow was still coming in at boost levels but the blower wasn't pressurizing. I also already explained why it's hidden in my OP. Because "ricers" put it on the a pillar or in plain view for aesthetics and not purpose.

I like it and I drive it. Not exactly like I can hear knock because I put some ricer SW Long Tubes and ricer ARH cat back on myself along with a ricer Whipple kit. Being able to verify boost is a nice piece towards peace of mind.

For those interested here's some updated pics. I still have some finish plastic work to do along with weatherstripping, sealing and wiring but it's getting there. I have perfect sight of all I care about - the area of the gauge it's supposed to be at WOT and it's not visible in the passenger seat or with the vent closed.

Switched up the gauge to digital and finished running all wires and selecting my 12v switched ground....just have to solder in and it will be done. Also finished the plastic work and sealing/silicone and weatherstripping to divert the airflow to the other two vents with no leaks. Didn't want the gauge to get condensation or make noise. Mao sensor went in unsused 1/8" port that was urged from Whipple.
