So I have a question for you guys... I am not completely sold on the text. I think the printing process just isn't precise enough to get the text right. We will see what the next round looks like but I don't know... Because of this I created this concept. What do you guys think? The symbols will be the main description for the button. At night you will have a bar light up to show toggle location. 1 bar red will be hazard, 2 bars blue will be traction control, and 3 bars blue will be steering mode. The main red bar in this picture would be split in the center for 2 and split into 3 for steering mode.

I am thinking of this concept or just leaving it one bar for all three toggles. This would obviously be a bit cleaner but you would not be able to tell the traction control apart from steering at night.
This def is an excellent idea. Most people including myself will see the symbol and that is all we need nothing more. For what u are doing I think this is a great idea!!!! Question his will produce the different colors to shine thru?

That looks good, I like the single light bar without the letters. These aren't gonna be constantly used anyways so I don't think they really need more markings besides the symbols.

The solid bar is all It needs. I don't look at the buttons now when I use them in the day, and a only use the light as a reference of location at night.

The only one that I think that is important for us to be able to see at night fast would be for the emergency lights

I'm down for a set as well.

Good idea and a question

1st of all let me say what your doing is fantastic, most people would not have stuck with this. The recent one your showing with just the light bar and symbol that does not light up, looks great.

I did have a question about the finish, are they going to be any that actually look like a nice smooth silver or black, or will they all look kind multi textured?

Thanks, Chris

I dont like the thought of different colored lights. Id like either all one color or nothing at all. I also think the symbol is enough. No words needed

I to agree that all blue would be better. The problem is that I can't control the colors. The OEM circuit panel has a red LED for the hazard symbol while the rest are blue.

I am hearing you all! The final version will have the Light bar with no text! The final toggle as rendered above is also about 4mm shorter then Prototype's 1 and 2 to better match the OEM toggle size.

The process that will be used to create these toggles is called SLS. It basically takes nylon powder and melts it together with a high powered laser. Because of this process the parts come out will a overall textured finish. So to answer your question, while I would love for these to be a smooth plastic they will actually be not unlike the textured material on the top portion of the dash.

Zack maybe a dashed line vs a single/solid. Or 2-3 dots? I know it would be another toggle cost/production but then you could sell the set and there'd be a different pattern for hazards, traction, steering.

Thanks for the Photoshop work! This is a consideration of mine! I personally like the single bar but what do you guys think?

I would prefer a single bar for all 3. The hazard is the only one that really needs to stand out (and the different color will handle that)- the others are not something you need to hit in an emergency, and will most likely be hit when stopped. Or at least driving in a low stress time so you would know where the button is. Honestly - does anyone have to read the button or look at the symbol to know how to change steering modes?
