Zack these look awesome....great work man. Too bad Ford is too clueless on this stuff.

I never even noticed that the base didn't have 4 slots, so you're missing drive modes correct?

Hey OP, MurderPony requested I take some measurements of the oem toggles. I didn't realize you guys didn't have anyone willing to, otherwise I wouldn't done it sooner! I love this thread, and I love people using cutting edge tech to entrepreneur a solution before the aftermarket!

Thanks!! That helps out greatly! So my toggles are a-little longer then the OEM ones and a-little thinner in thickness. I have been thinking of shortening mine so I might end up doing that for the production units.

OySmallFry,

Could you comment on the feel of the OEM toggles? Is there any play in them or are they pretty solid? What I mean by that is can you grab the toggle and wiggle it at all? Trying to see how mine compare to the OEM units.

No worries!

Yeah, I checked that when I remembered your discussion on your first round of prototype toggles. There is some play, but its a very tight feeling. Obviously pushing the toggle up is resisted by a spring, so nothing there. You can slightly wiggle left and right. Actually the silver spacer bars in between each toggle have more left-right play than the toggles themselves. All in all, its a pretty "heavy" solid feel, if that makes any sense.

Can't anyone with a premium trim in Maryland swing by Zack so he can get all the info he needs ?! :)

Thanks!! My toggle has some play in it as seen in the video a few pages ago. I think for the most part it is acceptable. The one thing I am trying to improve though is the twisting motion. With prototype 1 I can twist it a-little to much for my liking. The widening of the base should help fix this.

On a side note.... God I wish shapeways offered post processing such as painting... I would love to achieve that same smooth silver finish.

Where at in Maryland? I'm in Lancaster and if its not too far I'd be willing to let you get all the measurements you need from mine.

Zack they feel pretty solid/heavy in the premiums. You could always just go to the dealer near you and take a peak inside at the ones they have in the showroom. When I took pics last fall I took a close up..they definitely feel like aluminum.

Thanks for the offer! I am in Southern Maryland so it would be a bit of a drive. OySmallFry did a good job with the dimensions so I don't need any more currently! Again thank you for the offer!

Yea I was thinking the same. My toggles are never going to be as solid as the premium OEM toggles because of the manufacturing process. With that said I think that Prototype 1 is pretty damn close to acceptable. Prototype 2 should be even better.

So I have a question for you guys... I am not completely sold on the text. I think the printing process just isn't precise enough to get the text right. We will see what the next round looks like but I don't know... Because of this I created this concept. What do you guys think? The symbols will be the main description for the button. At night you will have a bar light up to show toggle location. 1 bar red will be hazard, 2 bars blue will be traction control, and 3 bars blue will be steering mode. The main red bar in this picture would be split in the center for 2 and split into 3 for steering mode.

I am thinking of this concept or just leaving it one bar for all three toggles. This would obviously be a bit cleaner but you would not be able to tell the traction control apart from steering at night.

I would prefer this over the text. As you state the text needs a higher resolution print to work best.

Another option would be to have a rectangular cutout and a label reverse printed on plastic which clips in.

Keep up the good work!
