I wouldn't worry about the rust. That's how the S197s looked from the factory basically. You could put some rust converter on then paint if you want.

For the price I think it sounds pretty good too.

Rust = weight savings. POR15 if you care...I wouldn't.

So if I'm reading/seeing this correctly, the mufflers behind the axle were simply removed?

I removed the res and added the magnaflow in its place. Then added tips. So the mufflers and res removed.

I listened again with better speakers and I'm pretty impressed. I think I might have to mess around with the same or similar idea.
