No real idea but the ford model has been 3 years without a change in platform. The GT350 has not followed that so it’s really guess unless you are making decisions inside ford.
Dunno for sure. But I can tell you the inside talk has a clear focus on the future of Electric Performance Vehicles within three years. And this is not just Ford's direction, but all manufacturers expecting to compete in the next 10 years. Expect to see up to 40 new Ford Electric Vehicle worldwide by 2022, many being Performance replacements to Predecessors such as the Mustang and Lightning.

As a performance engine gearhead, it was strongly recommended to me to consider the 2020 Shelby GT500 or prepare to go electric. I will be at SEMA in Las Vegas this November and plan on meeting with both Ford Engineers and Shelby American Execs. I will be very interested in getting their take on the future of Ford Platforms.

Ford did exactly that with the launch of the GT350 R model as it was a package but just as the CFTP option required an allocation for Ford dealerships that was also the case with the GT350 R models whereby FP would provide allocations for those cars as well.

FWIW, Ford is only producing 10 R models for the entire Canadian market for the 2020MY with each of the 10 cars being allocated on a lottery basis.

With only ~30 FP dealerships in Canada we can unfortunately expect some very large ADM's for those 10 cars.

Lastly, take this for what it is worth but I had a conversation with a Ford employee while touring the FRAP a couple of months back and was told that the 2020MY will be the only year whereby the GT500 and the GT350 will come down the assembly line together.

In other words the 2020MY will be the last year for the GT350/R as we know it today.

Again, those words came from someone that seems to be in the know at Ford and just passing them along.

Well, this has turned out to be quite the hodgepodge of various topics while I await the VIN and build date.....

So I'll add another diversion and reflect on some of the photos I took today whilst walking about.
