Mustang Order Question

Last month 18 December 2014, just before I went on a 2 week vacation, I went in and ordered my 2015 Mustang GT (Comp Orange) with Performance Package etc. After I did the build with the sales manager, I paid my $500 NON-Refundable Deposit and they said the next time they put in orders with be 15 January, 2015? Is this normal? I live in Alaska and don't ever plan on driving it in the snow, so delivery won't be till mid-late April anyways. Just wanted thoughts to see if the order delay is normal for some dealerships. Thanks!

I put in an order mid-December and I received my order confirmation from the dealer the next day (with the order number and everything so I could track in cotus).

Now that being said, the factory shut down for 2 weeks towards the end of December until 1/5/2015 for the holidays. During this time, orders could be submitted by dealers but nothing would happens (VIN assignment, or production) since Ford closed for that time.

I have no idea why they wouldn't just place the order now instead of waiting a week.

Yeah, they are only allowed to put orders in every so often. I ordered mine Sept 1st and the order went in Sept 12th or something like that.

Unless AK plays by different rules, something is wrong. I ordered a CO PP GT on 3 Nov, and had tracking with VIN on COTUS by 11 Nov.

Far as I know dealerships input orders at least weekly.

I put mine in and got my VIN and build week the next day.

I put my order in on 6-5-14 and got a VIN in mid November, lol. Mine had something to do with the dealers allocations, but they won't admit that to me.

Dealers can put in an order any time they want. Ford normally pulls orders on Thursday nights. Due to the 2 week shutdown and now some new delay, nothing is getting pulled until 1/15/15.
It's just bad timing.

I placed an order on Wednesday, 31 Dec., morning. Aq.Cotus had the order listed that afternoon. So with the New Years Holiday, I shouldn't expect a VIN# until after 15 January?

Correct.
However, their Christmas break is over. I don't know what the cause of this latest delay is.

I haven't read the 1/5/15 thread, but I assume that's for people who have already had their orders pulled and a build week assigned.

This delay is just for people waiting to get their orders pulled. This came from Rachel with Ford Service here on M6G.

I was told that the ford plant was back up and running this week (1/5) - I haven't read anywhere about an additional week delay in order processing. Can anyone link to that discussion?

Like I said, this is about Ford pulling orders. It has nothing to do with the plant being back up & running.

Dealers are able to submit orders anytime, akfinfan, although they may have individual processes to follow. It's possible that they were referring to the fact that no scheduling action will be occurring until January 15th.

Please send me a PM with which dealer you ordered from; I'll do some digging.

That is correct, tsunami. Scheduling action, such as receiving a VIN and build week, will not resume until January 15th.

The Flat Rock Assembly Plant is back up and running this week after the holiday break, ShoNuff; orders are just not being scheduled today.

Thanks for sharing the info, Stang Nut.

I haven't been given a reason as to why orders are not scheduling this week, but I was told they would be resuming next Thursday.
