c6 vs whippled 18 GT (lol) I gave him a good jump so I could get it on vid.

Savage. That looks like the Courtney Cambel or the Howard Franklin. That's an impressive car. Be safe you're in a monster.

Hello lovely people.

I had a Golf GTI with me today and I couldn't get any distance between us. Perhaps I was expecting too much? What do people think? I pulled up some specs which as far as I can tell are correct:

Mustang GT (10 Speed Auto UK)

Curb Weight = 1,693KG (3,733lbs)
BHP = 444BHP (450PS)
BHP/Tonne = 262BHP
0-60 = 4.9s

Golf GTI (DSG Auto)
Curb Weight = 1,389KG (3,062lbs)
BHP = 241BHP (244PS)
BHP/Tonne = 173BHP
0-60 = 6.1s

Golf GTI Clubsport (DSG Auto)
Curb Weight = 1,389KG (3,062lbs)
BHP = 295BHP (300PS)
BHP/Tonne = 216BHP
0-60 = 5.4s

Popped the Clubsport on because a Revo Stage 1 remap on the normal GTI takes it into that region of power so it is good for comparison purposes as the GTI may have been remapped. (Trying to make myself feel better here lol)

So yeah, could not make any distance they were stuck to me like glue. Auto box was in sport, I had good traction, straight road, etc. It was rolling, not from a standing start so I didn't have trouble putting the power down. I wasn't 100% committed, maybes giving it 80% throttle.

Perhaps to be expected due to hauling another ~200KG of weight around compared to the GTI? :)

It's fairly easy to get similar power to weight out of a GTI these days, that's all. Remap and e85, or throw in an upgraded turbo and they're quite the rocket. Don't feel too bad haha. 400-500hp isn't out of the question for a few of them. 3150 versus a GT at 3800 pounds (not sure what that is in real units)

I thought M6G was done with part throttle racing.

IMHO the 5.0 needs full throttle and red line.

I think the 5.0 fits the generic 80/20 rule really well.

80% throttle / 80% of the useable revs gives you 20% of the fun, it’s easy to see what that last 20% throttle / 20% revs gives you … :wink:

The only other thing I would say is it takes a bit of bravery to use that last 20% for gear after gear on a typical U.K. road (especially in a manual with its starship gearing lol).

I was going up against a Norma m20 FC the other day in my stage 6 SBO. Dude was swerving around, and I was like, oh shit brah, you want some of this? So I got right on his bumper, he gunned it, I gunned it, and we just went off. He pulled on me in the straights, but I was reeling him back in on the turns.

I think I'll get him with a little more power and less weight.

Is this thread still alive? I just had a run in with a 5th gen gt500 with my 2019 GT (6 speed) and was pleasantly surprised at the result. I'm gonna say it was a 2012 with the 5.4 considering the outcome, and seemingly stock.

He comes up right on me and did your typical posturing, we make a right onto an open road when he goes to swing around, so it started at around 20 ish mph and I'm hitting it in 2nd.

I actually pulled on him through second, by a fair bit, but once I went into third he started to gain really good, but not fast enough to overtake me before we had to brake. We were side by side, I gave the thumbs up and he was just hanging his head and shaking it lol. When I turned off he flashed me the peace sign so all was well in the end. Damn fun listening to v8s roar next to each other.

I'm just glad I work close enough to home where I can stretch one tank out for a whole month if I do the absolute bare minimum of driving. It's just way easier said, than done, during the summer :crazy:
