I’ve been watching from afar for a while now so thought I’ll really need to create my own post and detail all the mods I’ve done to my GT

This is going to be a long one I’m afraid so grab a brew and get comfortable...

Rewind back to the start of the year (2018), this year is a big birthday year for me and I was going to treat myself to a Mustang V8 no matter what !

I had my heart set on the new MY18 GT with 10 Speed Auto, but a combination of; shocking service from my local Ford main dealer sales team, the (finally) released prices of the MY18 model and the 0% finance deals on the MY17 spec, meant I bought an 18 plate Shadow Edition GT.

I used CarWOW for the first time and I’m really impressed by how simple it was, I ended up with a few main dealers competing to win my business and got a good discount, full tank of fuel and delivered free to my house !

Fast forward to March 18 and deliver day is finally here, a long torrid story but the car didn’t arrive at my house until 9.30pm at night in pitch black. So at first light I was out the house like a shot scrutinising the car and giving it a deep clean.

Annoyingly I had ask the dealer to leave all the protective film covers on and no dealer prep ! Thankfully they didn’t do any prep but they did remove all the wrappers ! But I managed to catch them in time before they screwed the front number plate mount on !

So this is how the GT sat on day one, I was like a kid in a sweet shop starting to plot and plan what I was going to change / add...

So on to the first mod, the standard suspension and wheel arch gap height is so high I’m convinced it’s off the Ford Ranger so I need to get that sorted.

First up 25mm Eibach wheel spacers all round which made a huge difference visually. Now the wheels fill the arches nicely and it has a more purposeful stance.

Here’s a load of before and after pics so you get the gist

Trouble was I was now getting a taste for subtle tweeks to the car...

Next I discovered the American Muscle website and all the amazing stuff our friends over the pond have access to that we don’t ! Very dangerous place that website you can spend some serious money on there !!

So first purchase was the MMD Side Scoops with Inserts pre painted in Race Red. Bit of a marmite mod I know but I love these, they make the car seem wider in my eyes and so much more aggressive.

Dead easy to fit, they literally stick on !

Next up was the obligatory window tinting, I have this done to every car I buy !

I used the usual place of Tint Devil in Kidderminster who’s work is always exceptional. I will not go anywhere else !

I had the light tint on the sides and factory medium to the rear window.

Pictures always make it look darker than it is but I’m really pleased with the look.

Next up was the led side markers in rear bumper, inspired by a few threads online I was not overly keen on paying the top money for the dedicated kits off the mainstream websites. So I decided to make my own!

I bought a set of markers off eBay for £18.00 spent £5 on making my own wiring harness, a few scrapes knuckles since and here’s the end result. A lot easier than I thought. I have since gone back and properly soldered the rear number plate lift connections as I was paranoid about them failing !

A couple of minor purchases ensured whilst I waited for the big day !

I treated myself to some new mats to replace the standard paper thin ones and also have mats in the rear. Along with the all important crooklock as I really want to keep hold of this car !!

The big day arrived my beloved GT was going in for some serious expenditure !

First up was the full detail, 4 days worth of solid decontamination, paint correction, refinement and ceramic coating of every surface by tyres and windscreen ! After some extensive research I opted for Extreme Gleam in Droitwich and they were excellent, can’t praise them enough !

The finish is exceptional and the hydrophobicness (if that’s such a word) of the ceramic coating is insane the water literally falls off the car !

Again for those eagle eyed will have also spotted the other ‘bits’ I had done whilst it was in the garage !

First up was the exhaust, the standard exhaust is too quiet but equally I live in a very quiet little cup de sac with new born babies on both sides of us.

So I opted for the Ford Performance Borla Active Exhaust quad pipe with X pipe centre resonator delete and the GT350 rear valance. Bit a long mouthful and almost as long as the damn price tag which I’m still recovering from the costs to import this from the States.

Thanks to Guy from Nemesis in Bromsgrove for making this so effortless to spend money with him !
I’ll add the video sound clip later when I work it how to upload videos on here !

Whilst in I also had the car lowered with Eibach Sportline (red) springs.

Really loving the stance now, low and wide and mega aggressive. Starting to look like a proper muscle car now !!

Again the sharp eyed will have spotted an inconsistency in the pictures above. As some have a red roof and some a black !

As you can tell I’ve had the roof wrapped in gloss black. I really wanted this feature from the factory but you cannot add it to the Shadow Edition spec so I thought I’d have it wrapped initially and if I like it at a later date I’ll get it painted properly.

I used Wrap Kings in Stourbridge for this work and the finish is perfect. If I was to have a gripe it would be that the gloss finish is not as shiny as I’d hoped for but that’s the issue with Wraps not the workmanship.

I can’t leave this damn car alone, there is always something I want to do it’s becoming an addiction to me.

Deliveries coming in seemingly weekly, the wife moaning constantly is this was Mustang ownership is like ??!

Next mod was a long time coming not least the first set I ordered arrived broken !

This time it’s the carbon fibre side window louvres, again a marmite mod for some but I love them. The louvres and side scoops remind me of the original 60’s fastback look which is what I’m trying to nod to.

So this pretty much brings me up to date just one more mod to detail and I’ll let you catch your breath before the next round!

One thing I’ve always hated was the fog light DRLs from the first time I test drove the mustang and moaned at the dealer to now I’ve hated them.

The US get the brilliant tri bar lights whereas we are stuck with a fog light because our stupid Legislation!

Apparently it’s because the tri bar lights are not joined up to form a ‘single lamp’ albeit can be argued that this is a single figment.

So this had to change, in cane AP Customs who retro fitted the lamps on my drive. Few hours later I was left with this result.

Tri bars installed, fog lamp DRLs deactivated and 6000k xenon bulbs fitted and led side light bulbs fitted. The OEM xenon colour is so yellow it looked like they were halogen bulbs.

I’m sure there are a few bits in bobs I’ve missed such as the rear light sequencers I’ve fitted and tinted number plates etc.

In true Columbo Style “just one more thing”!

I forgot the rear decklid !!

Similar to the front fog DRLs I’ve always hated the oversized GT badge roundel on the rear decklid that supposed to resemble an original fuel filler cap, really!!

So plain gloss black decklid purchased and fitted, and GT5.0 Coyote badge added. To be honest I’m not sold on the Red badge so I’ve order a gloss black GT letter badge OEM US style from Nemesis, along with some other bits so watch this space !!
