Hey Guys,

I have a few questions about PowerPacks on the Mustang GT's. here is the site: https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-9603-M8A

And here are the PowerPacks:

Calibrations are available with three levels of hardware and performance

M-9603-M8 - Power Pack 1
Includes high flow K&N air filter
13hp and 16lbs/ft peak gains over stock
40lbs/ft gain at 1500rpm

M-9603-M8A - Power Pack 2
Includes GT350 cold air intake with 87mm throttle body and exclusive intake adapter (hardware available separately without calibration as part number M-9603-M50)
21hp and 24lbs/ft peak gains over stock
40lbs/ft gain at 1500rpm

M-9452-M8 - Power Pack 3
Includes GT350 cold air intake with 87mm throttle body and GT350 intake manifold M-9424-M52
37hp and 5lbs/ft peak gains over stock
60hp gain at 7500rpm

My questions are as follows:

1) On the powerpacks 2 and 3, an "open Air Filter" is provided. However this filter sits right below the left vent on the hood. Isnt that a poor design? To have a vented hood and an open airbox? wouldnt that allow for Water and other thigns to get into and destroy the engine? (Water from the top, not puddle water).

2) Does Powerpack 3 really only add 5 lbs of Torque? or does it add 60 lbs? or is it a sliding scale?

From what i understand it almost seems like PowerPack2 is a better option.

Thanks,

Robert

OP, Welcome to the forum! Whenever possible definitely do a search on your question. It is highly likely that it has been covered already and you can find the info without looking like a noob.

I don't know if you're a moderator or not, but the ford perf. power pack thread is over 2k posts and not easy to find the information people are looking for, that's why new readers ask the same questions over and over again. Should have setup a version Frpp 1,2&3 to reduce traffic to make it easier to navigate or maybe a sticky to find the most saught after info.
