I'm scheduled for a muffler delete in the morning and I haven't been able to decide if I should go with 2.25" piping or 2.5" piping.

How would the size of the piping affect the sound?

Trying to avoid drone as much as possible.

I have the stock resonators still and don't have any plans for an H or X pipe anytime soon.

Did mine yesterday, came out quieter than i thought it would, but no drone on my morning highway drive. Can only get it to backfire on hard first two second gear accelerations.

What size piping did you go with?

I'd have them delete the mufflers and add glass packs in place of the resonator. The resonator is what really quiets things down. But if you go straight pipe all the way through it sounds like garbage. Glasspacks are cheap and will clean up sound of the sound and drone. Of course catback is the way to go on S550 but this is also an inexpensive option.

I do a lot of daily highway around 70 -85mph and do a lot of road trips so I dont want it to be loud or have too much drone. Im a little afraid that if I have them take off the resonators I will be very unhappy.

Why not try a GT take off cat back system for less than $100, if you don't like it after a while then do a muffler delete. You'll have 2.5 pipes with the GT system.

A GT system will sound pretty much the same. It still had the resonators and mufflers. It's the engine that makes it sound different. But the GT is super weak in stock form. My 13 V6 with borlas sounded way more aggressive than my stock GT.

How much did you spend on the Borlas?

Too quiet inside the car, outside, or both? I think these cars have a lot of sound deadening which dampens a lot of cabin noise.

I've never purchased exhaust new on any car I've ever had. I've had 2 S197s, a RT charger, and now my 16 GT. Look on CL and the marketplace for used parts. I originally got my Borla ATAKs with an Airriad CAI for $400 for some guy selling his car. I tried selling those for $300 but got no takers so I had those welded in to my 16 GT and later added a H pipe. It super aggressive with zero drone. It started to wear on me so I sold those to a buddy of mine and picked up Borla S type catback from a guy on the forums that upgraded his exhaust.

You can't compare a GT V8 sound to the V6. The OP is driving the V6.

Of course and that's not the point that I was making. He asked how much I paid for my Borlas. I was telling him I got them used just like every other exhaust system I purchased on all my other cars.

Really just need the pros and cons of a muffler delete with 2.25" pipes vs the 2.5" pipes.

So the shop im taking my car to tomorrow does not have a Mandrel Bender and uses Aluminized Steel instead of Stainless.

Should I be worried about that?
