Was just about to ask the same thing...so far I've heard of royal purple, amsoil and BG, which is the best transmission fluid?
When it comes down to it none of them are recommend by ford, so you use at your own risk.

I'm going to run redline mtl and see what happens!!!!

Royal Purple recommends their SyncroMax fluid for the MT82 tranny. I swapped in the SyncroMax at 5k miles and it instantly made a very positive improvement in the shift quality. I have 31k on the car now and I am still happy with the shifting and plan to change with the SyncroMax again next spring.

You can pick it up at AutoZone or Advance Auto.

The only reason I got into this thread was to give you a heads up on the "NS", not to change your mind about what to use.

I went with Royal Purple because it's available locally. Still not clear what the viscosity Synchromax is although I believe it is lighter than the diff oils.

Is the BG visually different from the stock fill? Just wondering in case of warranty issues later on.

1. So many OEM dealers use BG Products it would be unlikely.
2. If they send a sample in for testing it would just come back "really good"
3. It's Amber in color so it looks like factory fluid.

I just did the swap in mine for the trans and diff. The kit provided for both makes this job very easy. The shifter feel was noticeably smoother.

I think this is my next "mod", and I may install a stainless clutch line at the same time. If nobody is having long term issues BG sounds like a winner. Anything to smooth out the MT82 amps up the fun factor. Good thing there are aftermarket solutions that really make a difference. The BF bracket almost gave me nirvana. I feel what I think are syncros trying to mesh up. I never miss a shift, the gates are positive and reasonably precise. This trans is weird. Sometimes a quicker shift is smoother one (once warmed up). When shifting cold (especially 1-2) you have to be patient and not force it. If the fluid helps at all I will be happy.

I'll be sure to post impressions after I do those things.

It definitely helps. Cold shifting requires much less waiting as the synchros are meshing faster/more efficiently.

I just put MTL in it! Will give a report once I get the car back together, installing springs in it.

Will the BG Syncroshift II fluid give me proper protection in the Summer? Here in Texas we have lot of 90+ degree days, hitting 100 for several days and during Winter the temps average in the 40s, with a few dips in the 30s.

I did some reading and can't find an application chart for BG products or their recommendation for the MT82. However, there are a lot of anecdotal recommendations, and the description reads like a universal type fluid. It's no big deal buying this online if suitable.

Amsoil and Redline have an application chart but no recommendation for the MT82.

Royal Purple DOES have a recommended fluid for the MT82, and I can get it locally.

That's where I'm at.

Planning to do this mod as well...would be nice to know how TX friendly it is!

I'm also in DFW. I bought the BG Synchromesh for mine and I went with the heavier rear end fluid when I swapped just because I live in Texas. I can't imagine that it would protect any less than OE transmission oil. I figured the extra heat protection couldn't hurt.

Something to consider is that O/P is offering a forum special which covers shipping plus some. They also will send you a discount code for fluids when your ready to replace them again. The discount is specific to the refill fluids. I really like that!

We have the same car right down to the paint color. How long have you been running the new fluids?
Never mind I see you have been running it about a week. Might as well try it and see for myself. Seems like the '11-'14 owners dig using it.
