MT82 1-2 shift

Hey all, bought a 19 GT about 2 months ago. Had a 14 GT MT82 in the past.

I am having a hell of a time on the 1-2 shift. Never had an issue in my 14.

RST clutch, Billet Flywheel, Braided line, MGW race spec shifter. It’s as if when I try to shift semi quick to quick I get locked out like I did in my 14GT on the 2-3 shift before I replaced the clutch. My next step will be to adjust the shift gates on the shifter.

Also, I have noticed that in city driving when I go into 2nd, 3rd and 4th that when it goes into gear it kinda tickles the shifter until it’s fully in gear. Then today it went away for a bit and fell into gear smoothly.

Anyone have any advise on this?

well the big stuff is done, maybe the shifter needs adjustment. I might try a stainless clutch line and switch the fluid over to BG synchroshift from op mustang.

Yeah, I will be swapping fluids soon to see if that helps

I second adjusting the shifter. I used to get locked out on the 2-3 and once on the 1-2. After putting an aftermarket clutch in, it never happened again.

100% shifter adjustment. Didn’t realize how big of a difference it made on my Barton until I just went back and re-adjusted it. No more 2nd lock out and all the shifts are like butter with a new clutch

For the Barton there’s a bracket on top of the cartridge that slides. Loosen it and try to engage all the gears easily with the car off. Then you tighten it back up. I had to drive after adjustment to be sure since the feel changed under load.

You don’t. Change it out. Seriously it’s probably one of my favorite changes I’ve made to the car

Stock shifter isn't adjustable but if your on a stock clutch and having lockout issues an aftermarket clutch alone should change that. Guys who have done the shifter only can chime in whether a shifter alone would do tne same but I'm not sure. I'm running an lpxhd and stock shifter and have no lockout issues since install.

Hmm, I have a Steeda shifter and don't recall such an adjustment.
