This was my 08' ZX-14.
Went [email protected] on it. 6.2@120 in the 1/8. Stock wheelbase, touring tire, foot shifting. It was a streetbike.

You had a very good clutch hand and throttle coordination to pull off mid 9’s in the 1/4 mile on a stock wheelbase bike without flipping it. Great work!

I used to own and drag race a 2008 GSXR-1000. My quickest 1/4 and mph was 9.28 @ 148.XX. I should have stuck with drag racing motorcycles. Although still expensive, it wasn’t nearly as expensive as trying to do the same thing in a Mustang.

100% agreed! I had an '06 14 with flies out, slip ons and tune. I consistently ran 10.4x at 144-145mph. Launching a stock wheelbase stock height bike is tricky!

The ZX-14 is a couch and it's long wheelbase helped. I was lowered .75" in front and strapped, 1.5" in rear. Gearing was -1 up front and back. I would go through the traps at the top of 4th gear.

You seem to be 10"-12" stretched, I see the Brocks side winder pipe, a billet clutch cover.

My best 60' was a 1.65 but high 1.6's to low 1.7's were my norm. Yes, there were times at half track that I would be one 1 wheel.

I want to say my gearing was -1 up front and a 43T rear. Lowered and strapped as well.

That was a McIntosh IB Pro 6”-8” over arm with internal bracing. The sidewinder is actually a modified (shortened 4”) Vance and Hines Competition Series. I did have a Broc’s clutch mod in there though, lol. The billet cover made servicing the clutch so much easier.

I keep secretly want another liter bike, but for now, I’ll have to enjoy my little 883 Sportster which has a DarkHorse bottom end (Man-o-war crank and Carillo Rods) with a 1275 kit in it, .560 lift cams, CNC ported heads with big valves, HD springs and an electric shifter. One of these days I’ll take it to the track to see what it’ll do, once I get the Mustang all dialed in.

Beautiful garage,,,,, really tidy and bright.

That sporty should be fun in the 1/8 if you can keep the front end down. A badass Bar-Hopper.

Thanks! Yeah, It’ll definitely be a challenge to keep it down. I might have to launch it like I’m leaving a stoplight, otherwise it’s gonna want to point straight toward the moon.

I would think that on the street, you would just light up the rear tire. At the track, it will try to fling you off for sure.

It actually hooks pretty good on the street. I haven’t launched it hard, but once I’m off the clutch, I can go WOT instantly. As you know, clutch and throttle manipulation to get out of the hole quickly is what changes everything.

I stood my 1000 straight up on a launch during an event when using an MSD 2-Step and trying to throw the clutch away. Needless to say, I pulled the 2-step shortly thereafter and went back to slipping and controlling the throttle myself.

There was a professional photographer out there that captured it too. I wish I had ordered a large print from him to hang on my garage wall.

I had to sell it 3 months ago because of a back surgery. I was planning to go back ASAP, but the recovery is taking longer than expected and will wait longer than 1 year. I would like a KTM 690 enduro to rreplace it

I don't have any good team photos, but I do have several scooters in the garage currently. 2004 Aprilia RST1000 Futura, 2008 Aprilia RSVR1000 Factory and a 2003 Ducati Monster 800. Been riding for 26 years now and have been through so many bikes, manufacturers, motor configs, bike styles. You could say I'm going through my Italian twin phase right now.
