I'm thinking about this setup after reading any post on this forum.

Koni Yellow Shocks/Struts (are these better than Ford Track shocks?)
BMR 082r/089r springs

My questions is should I do sway bars now, or can I wait? Will sway bars make much difference on the street, and if so can I get away with just replacing the front bar for now? I want a fun street car/daily driver that can handle an occasional once a year trip to the track.

In my humble opinion, with a once a year run to the track you can keep the stock shocks and bars. If your an experienced road course/race guy you would feel the difference. If not, the GT stuff is actually quite good!! save your money for tires and brakes.

In my humble opinion, with a once a year run to the track you can keep the stock shocks and bars. If your an experienced road course/race guy you would feel the difference. If not, the GT stuff is actually quite good!! save your money for tires and brakes.
Even for us non PP guys? I was considering the Ford Brembo PP brake kit, but not sure if it's worth the extra $1300 to go from the stock 14" to 15"? I do want new tires and wheels, the stock summer tires are terrible in the cold and on wet roads around here. I wish my car wasn't under warranty so I could worry more about power adders like intakes, tunes, etc. rather than things that won't hurt my powertrain warranty. :D

Looks like we have the same car and also wanted better street manners for the car. I almost bought the Ford Racing street pack, but with the black friday deals I ended up going with the Steeda ProAction shocks and a set of the progressives.

I'm not sure I'll need the sways and Mike echo'd what I've also been told.

Your right, My bad. I thought you had a PP. I don't have an opinion on the non PP cars, I haven't driven one.

if you are indeed going to do shocks with springs then i personally would wait on the sways especially since they are another brand and i dont think you would find them paired as a kit so you might as well put on the shocks and springs and see how you like it and then move on from there. ive heard sways can sometimes take away from streetability. if you arent going to the track you would probably be okay with just shocks and springs and save the money for wheels and tires. sways arent that bad to put in i dont think either so if you do decide its not like you have to do everything all over again. as for if konis are better than ford, i dont know personally but konis would be adjustable where the fords are not. i had konis on one of my old cars and they were too harsh for me. so personally wouldnt go that way since i dd mine but everyone prefers something different from a dd

Thanks. I've never done any suspension mods before so this is all new to me. I want the car to sit a bit lower (less than an inch though) and handle the turns a bit better which is why I'm leaning towards the Koni's, but I guess I should look into the adjustable Steeda's as well. The stock GT suspension tends to lean a lot in turns. I'll probably do the Koni's or Steeda's and springs for now, and add the sway bars down the road, or just add a front sway bar for now until I get more money saved.

The Steeda Pro Actions have more adjustability than the Konis.

The fixed valve Pro-Action has about 10% more control than the P/P
shocks, with a re-curved rebound to improve ride quality. They were designed for the non P/P cars that upgrade to aftermarket performance street springs.

Do you have any springs that offer less than an inch of drop? Currently BMR is top of my list because they offer a .75" rear and .5" front drop. Everyone else seems to be at least a 1" drop. Also would BMR springs pair well with the BMR 082 and 089 springs?

I would go for the Steeda fixed dampers or the stock PP dampers for those springs (great choice on those).

The koni and Fr track are way too much damper for the 89/82, I think. Most people running those are on the BMR handling rates, which is far from the performance rates.

The PP dampers should be about right.

I have gotten the settings where I like them on the Konis and the FR Track dampers with our 170/740 rate springs. I can tell the springs need to be stiffer, in a perfect world, but I dont think that is something that the average person would know/notice.

But that said, I do prefer the PP rates with the BMR Performance Springs.

On their softer end they'd probably work well with the 089/082 springs. I think for what you're looking for, the fixed ones ($380 on their BF sale!) or the PP dampers would be great. The PP car is still very competent on the road course stock, keep that in mind.

Tracking once a year? Do it properly. Invest in a set of adjustable coilovers first. Get them installed by a specialist and not some Goodyear dude down the street, or a mate who will do it for free. This way you can adjust for street and then adjust for track ;). Then you go sway bars when your finances allow you too.
