I've managed to return my turbo studs back in but I'm still having trouble. Or at least I think I am. With the downpipe bracket not being completely flush with the back of the turbo. You can see a little of the turbo gasket. I've went through a ton of pictures on downpipes and I've seen some that are flush and some that aren't. Any one got any ideas?

I'll add a pic of mine and a couple others I've seen.

OEM uses doughnut gasket.
aftermarkets, couple use the oem doughnut, some go flush by removing it.

ive had both. double check mishimoto manual make sure it uses the gasket, as you just put it onto of it. I personally prefer the OEM set up with doughnut gasket, I think its a far superior sealing than just pipe to turbo directly. my opinion.

but if you are using the oem downpipe, or any downpipe that utilizes the doughnut, make sure its evenly turned on both sides. not one side more than other, can cause uneven pressure and leak

In the video for the install by CJ pony parts he uses the doughnut but he doesn't ever show if it goes flush or not. He does mention to make sure it is seated properly. Even with everything loose though the downpipe doesn't seem to fit over the doughnut entirely. So maybe there is meant to be a small gap.

you are in luck, the mishimoto install video says "keep this gasket, re use this" about the donut

yes you are correct, the downpipe will not be flush to the housing, it is meant to rotate on the donut gasket, its a pivot. but you want both bolts evenly tightened, not one hammered down and other loose.

I actually had it where it was too tight on one side and looser on other, and it wasn't a good seal.

what I mean is, it goes from larger pipe, to smaller donut, to larger turbo housing. \/ like that. its fine.

Yeah that's what I thought but I wanted to make sure. It's really tough getting it to seat evenly.

I'm like 1/8 of an inch showing on the top and like a 16th on the bottom but if I try to raise the dp any higher I'm hitting the bottom of the a car.

I’m sure it’s fine. Mount it up. Turn it on. While warming try feel for air passing out. Turbo gets hot quick.

I did. I don't feel any air the turbo gasket is even on the top and the bottom. So I imagine it's a lot better than what it was.
I'm still getting some loss of power but at least the DP rattle went away and it feels a little better.

There's probably a torque spec so you know how tight they need to be.
