I had to get my windshield replaced last year due to a 2” rock, and the new one from Safelite did not have the logo. When I inquired, they told me “yes we can get an OEM windshield if you want, but you won’t like the cost”. So I relented. Thing is, I think the non OEM is functionally better. It seems to have more clarity, even months down the road. I could never get the old one perfectly clean. It was the worst, just perpetual smudges. My wife even commented positively about the new one without me saying a thing. Do I miss the logo? Nope, never.
Does the non-Ford replacement also have the "sound screen" nomenclature somewhere on it at the bottom?

Not sure, I’ll have to look for it.

I had mine replaced after a huge bolt hit my window and cracked it. I had the Ford emblem in white from factory. I went with OEM glass replacement and the Ford emblem is black. I didn’t even notice it for months until I looked at a past picture. I actually like the black better, wasn’t a fan of the white from the get go.

So I understand the point of the soundscreen glass, but what is actually different about it? Thicker glass? Thicker plastic layer? Material choice? Just curious if anyone knows. Couldn’t find info on their site beyond what it accomplishes.

Mine is branded Fuyao, “made in USA”. No markings on it indicate sound-deadening, though I haven’t noticed any increased sound level in the car. Don’t know much about auto glass science, I just drive it. Again, it seems clearer and less distorted than the original. Looking edgewise at the glass, it is appears to be laminated, but with what I do not know.

Upon further reading, Fuyao is OE for some cars, but not Ford. So I figure it’s going to be a tossup on quality. So far I’m pleased.

Hi all, I bought my CPO 2019 Mustang GT a while back, and I just noticed that I don't have the FORD logo above the rearview mirror on my windshield... Does this mean my windshield has been replaced? (The car is Premium Convertible 10 speed auto, no lane keep assist or anything fancy) If so, does that mean the car should never have been Certified?

I saw that the windshield is made my FUYAO, but so are all the other glasses on the car. What is the OEM for your Mustang windshield? I know it's too late for me to do anything at this point, but I still like to have peace of mind.
Windshields are made by different manufacturers world wide. What companies like Ford and GM do is buy these windshields in bulk, sometimes paying Pennie’s on the dollar for them and then stamp them with the their logo (GM) or put on the third visor frit with either the Ford Logo or the Mustang logo at the factory. The temperatures to add these Frits and logos is much lower than what it takes to make a windshield so it can be done here or have them done when the windshields get baked from the manufacturer. The windshield you have is middle of the road sold by mainly Mygrant a vehicle glass supplier because they are the largest nation wide. If you want a top tier quality windshield you will choose Pilkington. They manufacture their own windshields and sell to many of the European car manufacturers like Mercedes Audi and BMW. Their shields are top notch. They are usually more expensive but well worth it. This is what you want to look for. You’ll find it bottom passenger side.

What more then likely happened is the windshield got replaced and either the dealership or previous owner didn’t want to pay the cost of the logo.

Edit: if you have glass replacement on your insurance know that your insurance will only replace the windshield with an “OEM” windshield for the 1st 2 years. After that it will be an out of pocket expense.

Pilkington makes a great product (I’ve used them before), but for our Mustangs OEM Carlite is best.
