So we had a PPF put on the front half of our MY22 Mischievous Purple Mach 1. The back half is a ceramic coating. We had a shop do this for us after we took delivery from the dealership. When the shop put the PPF on the hood, it messed up the hood stripe and the "Mach 1" lettering decal. The hood strip they replaced but are having trouble getting whatever the font was used for the lettering from Ford. They will die cut from the font.

Does anyone have any idea where the font can be found? Can the "Mach 1" decal can be purchased and where? I really want this back on the front end of the hood. The shop owner says he's contacted Ford and is waiting to hear back, but it seems to be taking a while for them to get back to him. PPF and ceramic was done the week of July 10th. TIA!

From what it looks like if they replaced the stripe with one from ford the Mach 1 letters are attached to it.

They cut a new hood stripe in a slightly darker gray. But they don't have the Mach 1 font to cut the "Mach 1" part of it. The owner of the shop is trying to get now the font from Ford. He'll cut a new to match the hood stripe. If I have to I'll try to just buy one and he can put it on.

Not sure who's footing the bill, but these guys https://autodesign.shop/ might be able to come up with a more affordable solution. I haven't used them, so I can't vouch for quality.

I mean, dang.

In the coming years, maybe the aftermarket/restoration folks will be gifted a license to reproduce.

How did the PPF mess up the hood stripe? By changing the flat/matte to gloss? Or do you if they tried to lift up the PPF after it was applied and it pulled up the decal? Any photos of the damage?

However, if you first log in, or put your VIN number into the site and then search for "Stripe Decal" it will give you the list (with pictures).
Yes. I've experienced same with other items.

If the detailers are having issues, the local Ford Parts department can pull the entire car up, specific to your build, by using the last 8 of your VIN.

Anyone who's considering PPF and reading this thread. The shop that did my full PPF (with STEK) initially wanted to take off the decals and side emblems before he put PPF on. I talked him into not doing that and it turned out fine. There are plenty of vidoes on youtube of shops doing PPF (varous brands) over the decals.

The shop didn't realize how porous the oem stripe was, so when they put the PPF over it, it created micro bubbles. They made a new hood stripe (in a slightly darker gray, different material) and laid it over the oem stripe. Then they added an anti-glare PPF to that. But they didn't do the "Mach 1" part of it. So now they are waiting for Ford to send them the right font so they can make that. Mine was the first MY22 they worked on, I don't know if the hood stripe was made of different material in previous model years.

I'm looking for other options if they can't get the font. I want that "Mach 1" back on the hood!

The logo (matte part) does have a rough texture to it; the surface makes it difficult for PPF to adhere to well.

Related...I recently had PPF as well (all painted surfaces, but not the logos or stripes). Hadn't touched the car washwise until today, so as to let the PPF cure.

After cleaning Skye up, I noticed a handprint of some type on the matte portion of the hood logo. Maybe the installers left this. Maybe I touched in passing without noticing. Being directly on top of the engine compartment, whatever substance or oils there was then baked onto the surface of the decal.

As with the shiny black valance on the back of the car, don't touch the matte logo. LOL. Don't even look at it funny.

But there is hope. After some experimentation, I found a solution.

1. Start with a car and engine which is cool to the touch, out of the Sunlight.

2. Take a dark, cotton t-shirt or microfiber towel.

3. In a bowl, add some Dawn and water. Wet the t-shirt mentioned above in the Dawn mix.

4. Gently, in a front-to-back motion, wipe, with little pressure.

5. Rinse by using another microfiber towel, wet with water only, in same back-and-forth motion.

After three cycles of the above, the handprint is gone.

Same here. Tempting to touch. Visuals only for close to two weeks.
