Because the OEM one could be quieter due to the Soundscreen portion. Not all replacements will be the same thickness or as sound quieting, which could make long trips more tiring. That's the main reason I went for the OEM one when I got mine replaced and the difference was about $100 iirc.
Also keep in mind that there can be a difference between OEM glass and factory glass. Other manufacturers can make glass that meets all OEM specs but are not "factory" glass. In the case of our Mustang, glass is not glass. If the OP bought a CPO car then, I believe, all major components should "factory" parts, including the windshield. Add that to be less than perfect install, I would bring the car back to the dealer and and insist on getting a factory windshield properly installed.

I had to replace my windshield and was giving the option to use a cheaper non oem glass with out the logo. I told them absolutely not. I have full glass coverage and it was on their dime!

This all depends on your insurance. Several companies replace with OEM only. Several companies won't use OEM period unless you pay the difference. The only time those companies will use OEM is when there is cameras in the windshield like on fords safe and smart package. Fuyao Is what they put in my civic when the windshield was broken. I was told then that Fuyao makes OEM windshields for most car makers in some form or fashion and that they make their own for after market as well. The guy at safelight showed me their stocks of windshields for all cars and almost all of them said Fuyao. I wouldn't worry about. IN my civic anyway the OEM glass broke with one rock. After they put the Fuyao windshield in that thing took several good impacts and didnt break plus is seemed clearer. as far as sound screen??? M and my buddy both have 19 gts bought new and no repairs we both have ford logos and his said sound screen and mine does not. Maybe because mine has the cameras in it?? maybe the coating or whatever it is interferes with the camera.

Either way it's in its yours and wasn't an issue til you noticed. I seriously wouldn't stress it much. Every car I have ever owned has gotten its windshield broken and replaced with aftermarket glass. To be honest the aftermarket glass seems to hold up better. LIke anything in life 90% of OEM or aftermarket is made in the same factories. OEM anything is not always the best.
This has nothing to do with insurance. OP bought a CPO car that does not have a factory windshield in it. On top of that the installation was poorly done. You pay a premium for a CPO car. If any major part on the car is not original it should have been disclosed. OP has a right to a factory windshield.

I just checked my 19' windshield and it does not say SoundScreen, only solar tint. It doesn't have too.

As far as durability, who knows? Too many variables to make that type of determination. I've had both good and bad factory and oem replacement windshields. It's the luck of the draw.

Yes thank you for your somewhat pointed reply. But I was not addressing the OP so... I was merely giving my input based on EVERYTHING I read on the topic which included insurance talk and durability of the oem vs aftermarket and so on..
Yeah, sorry about that. Didn’t mean to be “pointed”. I took the “your” to mean the OP. My bad!

Wow didn't expect my little post to get so much discussion about glasses! Thank you all for responses.

Nothing. Fuyao is an EOM for Ford and other manufacturers. They have a plant in Dayton, Ohio.
Regarding Fuyao, my Civic actually has Fuyao on all of the glasses, and I bought the Civic brand new, all glasses are still OEM.

Regarding the OEM glass being quieter, the car is already loud AF because it's a convertible, so I'm not sure if I will really feel a difference. It's sunny where I live, so I drive with it top down most of the time anyway, so glass noise blockage doesn't really mean much to me.

Does it stop the bugs from hitting you in the face? Does it keep the wind out of your hair? Do you get wet when it's raining? What's the problem?
Why worry about it, aside from the possible alignment issues? I replaced mine last year after a rock chip turned into an ever expanding crack, I chose non OEM as the cost difference was several hundred dollars and I didn't want to deal with insurance deductibles. I don't even notice the lack of Ford emblem, and honestly, glass is glass.
I just wanted to confirm if all OEMs come with Ford logo. But now that I confirmed that mine is definitely not OEM, I won't worry about it anymore. I checked Ford CPO checklist, it doesn't explicitly say the windshield should be OEM, it just said to inspect it and make sure it's fine. I could go talk to dealer about it, but I doubt they will do anything after 6 months, and also given that I didn't see that until just yesterday. On top of that, I don't really want to make a trip to the dealer 1 hour from home during the coronavirus shut down. Even if they agree to fix it, I will have to take several hours of my time just to go back and forth with them, then wait god knows how long to get my car back... I'm not sure if it's worth a few hundred bucks. Who knows if I will just get rock chip in it the next day and have to replace the whole thing LMAO. So I kind of agree with the idea of leaving it alone. As far as I'm concerned, it's not leaking, it's functional, and the gap was annoying but I can just not look at it.

Thank you all again for your responses. I'm heading out to enjoy some more of that delicious sound of V8 at 7000 RPM :D

For me, there is exactly one place that my car tells the outside world what it is (in English text): that silly windshield logo. Otherwise, it relies on its lines and its reputation to say what it is.

I have been looking for ways to cover up my Ford logo... in absence of another solution, planning to have my window tint guy cover it up if the apocalypse doesn't happen.

get black color vinyl and place on the inside of the windshield behind the oval..

or, yeah get your tint guy to put a little strip at the top of your window, that should make it blend in fairly well. unless the tint leaves a line around the edge where it doesnt stick to the logo.. then it'll just stand out more.

You know, I just went out and looked at my car (2019 GT Premium, 1st owner, never replaced the glass) and there's no Ford logo on the windshield. However, I did get most / all the electronic toys on the car so there are a couple of optical sensors there to support the safety and convenience functions like the auto high beams, auto wipers, and such. If you have those features, that may be why there's no logo.

For that matter, I don't believe there is a single Ford logo anywhere on the exterior of the car except for a small one on the UAW sticker on the left rear quarter window.

Mine has the logo as well as the safe & smart. When I took delivery in April of last year the dealer had to replace the windshield with an OEM glass because the glass had a crack in it. Delayed delivery by a week because it had to be a Ford glass.

Does it say Carlite in the center bottom? My 19’ has the logo and I have Safe and Smart.
