MGW Install

They do, I'm in Columbia which is about an hour away and this will be my next mod, it's a steal given they will install for free.
Just make sure you schedule about 3 weeks in advance as they build to order.

I just installed mine today. This install was super easy. I did mine on a lift. It would probably be do able on jack stands but it would be a pain. I really love the feel of this shifter. It looks great too. That black ball with white MGW logo really looks good.

I wish I lived near their facility...That is a great deal to get it installed for free.

I just got mine shipped home yesterday, can't wait to get it on this weekend

In the install vid, at one part it talks about having to pull down (and maybe have a friend help) on the drive shaft to make room. Did you find you needed to do this?

I would likely being doing the install on ramps, but this part makes me wonder that would really be possible.

Yes, I was actually the fat kid pulling down on the transmission while another guy pulled the bolt out of the top mounting point on the old shifter. Other than that it was a solo gig.

So probably no way a guy is doing this on his back. Bummer.

You could pull it down and put a block between the floor and the top of the trans back by the yoke to hold it down at a good angle. I wouldn't want to do this job on the ground. It took me about 2 hours with a lift. Getting that top bolt out and back in was the worst part. Once I decided to get someone to give me a hand pulling the tranny down things went a lot faster.

I just installed one of these shifters over the weekend. It is one of my favorite mods. I did the whole thing by myself including pulling on the driveshaft to remove the top bolt with the car on jack stands

GT base, a loud one.
So we don't HAVE to pull the drive shaft? It takes the same time to do it either way but it is easier when the shaft is pulled. (Pun unintended)

You do not have to drop the drive shaft. When the owner installed mine he pulled the bolts from one side of the transmission cross brace and that gives enough room for everything.
They have an install video on their site. I know of guys in my car club who did it themselves on ramps with no problem.

The install vid is on an ecoboost, which apparently has more room to work. He states in the vid that with the GT you will likely need to have someone pull down on the drive shaft while removing one of the bolts.

But I don't know. Would be nice if there was a way without removing the drive shaft or having to yank on it.
