I like to disassemble things.
What was your previous shifter?
Based upon mention of Delrin as well as the NVH woes I'd venture to guess it was blue.:ninja:

OP, you made a great move to the highest quality and best engineered shifter out there. Have fun with it!

Is the MGW as tight and short as the other one? No. But it strikes a perfect balance between performance and refinement.

Yeah, that is what he told me. Everyone loves the MGW, but for someone like me who doesn't care about NVH and just wants pure performance what I quoted from him above has me thinking the Steeda shifter.

BTW, I've since upgraded my MGW shifter with MGW's stubby shaft and locknut. The MGW is now just like the one I took out in terms of shift throw. I like! I Like!

The stubby shaft is not on their website. Also I have to say George from MGW doesn't recommend it due to potential synchro wear.

In my mind that doesn't compute. A remnant of the short throw shifter causing synchro damage myth; probably due to dealers not wanting to warranty transmissions and looking for an excuse. Nobody has given me a good technical reason why undue synchro wear should occur.

The best I can figure is those of us who buy short throw shifters are more likely to be the type that shifts aggressively. The latter being why things break, not the shifter.

Shifters don't kill transmissions, people kill transmissions. LOL

Finally had a chance to install my MGW. I can't believe I drove with that stock shifter and all the mis-shifts for 750 miles!

I really like my MGW in my 2007, but this new Race Spec is awesome with the GT350 shaft & GT350 shift knob. Throws are perfect and no mis-shifts.

Edit: Yeah, after putting more miles on some serious twisty roads, I think mis-shifts with this MGW setup are pretty much impossible.

Also, the new shifter sits dead center in neutral.

I LOVE THIS SETUP!!!!

I think it's hideous and too tall and doesn't feel good in my palm. it's all personal tastes
Truer words never spoken. I did the swap to this knob myself and it did sit a little high. Fits perfect with the GT350 boot/collar though.

Going on leave to tail of the dragon in 3 weeks... I think I might need to make a detour into GA first. I am pretty happy with the stocker but the reviews make me feel like im missing out.

I agree. Compared to my 99GT and my 13GT the stock shifter in my 16GT is awesome.
