Messaging and WiFi issues

So since I've gotten the car I've been trying to setup text messaging through the MFT screen, but every time i do so i always get this:

"this device does not support text messaging over bluetooth"

I have an iPhone 5S. Is it my particular model?

Also, when i try to connect to my house wifi, it always says the passkey is wrong, even though its the same passkey I use for all my other devices. Maybe I'm too far from the router? (I park on the street)

Wifi isn't functional.

Text message, open blue tooth options and select sync (on your phone). Then turn on allow access. Turn off and on car again and texts should work better.

On your iPhone: Settings > Bluetooth > (i) next to SYNC > Show Notifications

That'll fix texting. I dunno about WiFi. Never tried it.

wifi will only connect to a WPA secured network.

It was a half baked idea. Even if you can connect, there is ZERO functionality you can do so dont bother.

as far as the getting texts to work, you have to basically turn off any security by allowing notifications to show while your pjhone is locked. personally, i can do this, as i dont want people to be able to read my texts while my phone is locked.

The vehicle is a router, and it needs an internet source to provide a wireless signal. You will need one of the following:

1. Wi-Fi Hotspot
2. Personal Hotspot from cell phone
3. USB Mobile Broadband.

So if you have 1,2, or 3 why wouldn't you just access from their. Having the car be a hot spot is just an additional piece of tech in the middle that does nothing but add latency.

You can connect to all three options alone, but some have a limit on the number of devices that can connect. SYNC helps expand the number.

Hey Ford, I have a question for you. When I bought my GT Premium (8" touchscreen), I was told that it had apps that would work with my phone to allow better integration with things like Spotify. However, when I tried to "Install Apps" from the Sync screen, it was giving me error messages. After spending a ton of time trying to figure it out with no success, I called Ford or Sync (can't remember). They told me that the apps only work on the base models without the 8" touchscreen but that testing was in the works.

Well, when can I expect that functionality?

I can't speculate on future products or updates. Our priority is completing the roll-out of AppLink across the first generation SYNC models and continuing to migrate it to Europe and Asia. In March, an update was released that gave all base models the AppLink feature. Stay tuned to our media site for announcements: Media.Ford.com
