Text Messaging via MFT?

I can receive texts through MFT with my iPhone 6 Plus. To make it work, go into the Bluetooth settings on the phone, click the 'i' button next to the SYNC device, and turn on Show Notifications.

Did you have to do anything in the car, my 5s worked fine but no text with the 6plus, I turned on notifications and tried to re pair it to the car. Calls work fine but no text. :shrug:

the iPhone messaging does not allow text over bluetooth. this did not change with the iPhone 6.

That's actually not true. This feature has been around since at least iOS 6.

I don't recall doing anything special in the car. Once I turned on Show Notifications, texts just started coming through. The only other thing I can think of is go into Settings > Notification Center > Messages and make sure Allow Notifications and Show on Lock Screen are both turned on. Also make sure the phone is locked when you try it out.

Just did that.. will see if it works on the way to work and report back. this would be awesome if that was it!

I did this in the morning. WOW... such a simple change and it had me baffled for a year and half... both on my Escape and now the Mustang.

This actually works... I use an iPhone 6 Plus!!!

1. Turn off the ignition.
2. Open the driver’s side door.
3. Wait for the instrument cluster to turn off.
4. Close the driver’s side door.
5. Start your vehicle again.
