We need a new Mustang accessory...a wolf in the trunk...slow down and hit the release.
Some of us already have a Coyote under the hood though. ;)

I don't think that those 'ultrasonic' whistles that mount in your grill actually work. I mounted two on my GT, I have passed multiple herds of deer on the shoulder...none ever looked like they had even heard them or at least did not pay any attention.
Thankfully where anecdotal evidence falls short of any meaningful conclusion we have empirical research -

Note you usually have to do at least 40-50mph for them to work, and if you do that speed when there are deer on the shoulder, you're braver than me...

I Googled a few deer whistle tests. Anecdotal stories are essentially worthless. "My mother-in-law yelling 'WATCH OUT FOR THE DEER', and never hit a deer", etc.
Deer whistles generate a 16-20khz sound when the vehicle is traveling at least 30 mph.
Several police departments put on deer whistles on their squad cars and found a significant decrease in deer collisions. However, subsequent statistical studies disproved their effectiveness.
Two reliable scientific studies were undertaken recently. One in Modoc Cty, Idaho, ran vehicles past multiple herds of mule deer, with and without whistles. They ran several hundred runs, first to get the deer used to the vehicles and then to see if they responded to the whistles. 60% of the time, deer noticed the 'quiet' vehicles; 61% of the time, the deer responded to the whistle equipped trucks.
In Virginia, studies were done in a private deer farm. Both vehicle attached and pressurized whistles were used. The tame deer did not respond! The scientists then upped the decibel levels to levels never possible on the vehicle mounted whistles. The deer still didn't respond. It turns out that deer are not able to hear ultrasonic 16-20khz sounds any better than humans! Finally, they tried to get the deer to come to eat their favorite treats by using the whistles. No response.
So...install whistles on your Pony, if it makes you feel more secure...just be sure to hang a couple of rabbits feet from the mirror also (But that rabbit didn't have very good luck).

I hit a deer on my way up to Glen Arbor last weekend also happened to be a Friday Night. 300A GT Mustang 6 speed manual drove up in a blizzard car actually did excellent in the snow the whole way up despite 4 inches falling through the evening high winds and low visibility. About 20 miles away from family cottage I came over a hill crest and about 200 feet in front of me two deer where about to cross the road. I tapped the brakes and felt the rear end break loose so I proceeded to down shift from 50 MPH 5th to 4th to 3rd blipping throttle I got the vehicle down to about 25-30 MPH the first deer crossed in front I barely missed it. The second began to cross as soon as I was about 5 feet away the Doe stuck its head out and made contact with my front passenger side head light shattering the fascia knocking the headlight out of alignment the fog lamp and turn signal out of the housing. Minimal damage as oppose to what it could have been. I've had family members total vehicles trying to swerve and miss deer. Hopefully its all cosmetic.

Ugh. I can't imagine what it must be like to hit a deer -- I hit a bird about ten years ago when it just landed right in front of my car (less than ten feet away, no chance to stop) and I felt so guilty about it I couldn't drive for a month. That poor bird died because I wanted to go out and get a pack of smokes. Even a decade later I still feel guilty about it.

Can't imagine what it must feel like to kill a deer.

Deer... sometimes I think they are the dumbest creatures on the planet. After the first deer got destroyed the next one must have been thinking "Hey that looks like fun!"
Until you are hunting them. Then they become one of the smartest, most wary critters in the woods.

Makes no sense.
LOL, you should try hunting them near highways with your Mustang's bumper. Hmm, on second thought, that might take the sport out of it...
