Allow me to share the pain I incurred at the dmv!

that is about what I'll pay in Louisiana too. 9.5% tax plus another 500 in fees, so on a 58500 car, so 6,050.

Kentucky is even worse. We have 6% sales tax, but we have to pay an ad valorem property tax every year. Our last bill was almost 2k for 3 cars. We have to pay that every year. And if you owned a vehicle on Jan 1 of the year and sold it Jan 2, you have to pay the whole years taxes. We sold our Mustang in March and just got a $500 tax bill for a car we don’t even own anymore. Talk about a rip off.

my bill is also 2k+/yr for auto property tax but it's levied at the county level, not state. Now down to 2 cars and a dozen MC.

Wow didn't realize how rough some of you guys had it!

In PA I pay $81 a year to register the Silverado and I think $46 or something like that for the Mustang.

Sales tax in my county is 6% on a new vehicle but if you have a trade in you only pay tax on the difference between the trade value and the selling price.

Good move. I wish I didn’t live here. My dad lives near
Houston and his plates are like 70 bucks a year, and no state income tax. Hopefully will be moving to Texas in the next year or so myself for work. Once we don’t get eaten alive in taxes, maybe we’ll add a few more mustangs to the collection too.

Small world. My dad lives in La Porte. I stay at his house when working down there and drive through Deer Park nearly every day to pig out at Kelly’s. Gotta love those monster chicken fried steaks.

My dad is from Jennings, and I have tons of family in Lake Charles, so I know Louisiana well too.

Kelly's isn't familiar, must've been after my time unfortunately.
