What are you using to protect the decals from the Nevada heat and sun. I’ve tried searching the forum but haven’t seen anything specific to Mach 1. I saw a 2010 Mustang cobra yesterday and the decals were destroyed by what appeared to be wax and sun fading. I don’t want the Mach 1 to end up like the Cobra! Thanks in advance for any helpful advice.

At least from the perspective of the decals, it doesn’t appear these special edition cars are meant to be driven daily. Doesn’t mean they can’t, but those decal materials combined with the limited production seems to suggest otherwise. Maybe if you’re gonna daily it, I’d probably UV PPF the decal and then buy a spare.

I was advised the decals would last five years until needing paint or replacement, longer if kept out of the sun. (Mine is daily driver too.)

I have PPF over my whole Mach 1 but others on the forum have said that's only an option with FJG Mach 1's due to the texture on the decals. PPF was pricey but totally worth it in my opinion. For non-FJG Mach's I would think ceramic coating would be a viable option.

$760~ish for the hood decal alone. I should have gotten the whole hood protected. Ugh.

Paint Protective Film, incase you didn't know what PPF stands. You can have it added at different increments from what I understand. So just front end, 3/4ers of the car, or full body if I remember correctly. I paid $8500 for the full wrap and ceramic on top. Pricey but like I said before, I'm very happy with the results. Definitely increases the shine of the car and makes it way easier to clean. Plus the added protection. It will be a must for any of my toy cars going forward, hoping there are future ones haha. I put the link for the place I used just for information purposes on PPF if you're interested. You can probably find cheaper places in your area but at least you'll see if it tickles your fancy.

Thank you for sharing and you’re right expensive. I’ll look into the cost in my area.

I just put formula 303 on mine… Seems to be doing the trick, but then again it’s garaged most of the time.

I’ve used 303 for years on seals etc. never thought about doing decals. Does it turn the matte area glossy?

If anyone is looking for replacement decals, I got mine from here. I had the decals removed when the car was PPF'd. They are pretty spot on and the wrap shop that installed them said they seemed to be good quality.

I daily drive the car and they still look brand new. It's only been 6 months and I'm curious how they will hold up during the winter.

No, it stays a matte black. It may even look more black(Darker).

My whole car is PPF. But they went around the decals to do that. If they get worn out, I'll just have new ones put on or replicated. We'll see.

Has anyone tried Mckee’s Matte finish cleaner and protectant? It’s supposed to clean and provide a sunblock for vinyl decals etc. They claim because a lot of Chrysler and GM hi performance vehicles use Vinyl and matte paint it was developed…according to their video. Curious if anyone has experience with this product?
