Lowering & Wheel Spacers

I know there are probably 1 million threads like this, but just had some questions.

What are the "REAL" cons to these two? I've been wanting to lower the car about an inch and add wheel spacers, but my "car buddy" is so against it the two, that he has almost convinced me not to do these two mods. Any info will help!

I have lowered on steeda progressives and 1" spacers on GarageLine. The spacers are hub-centric so they are fine. No problems so far, Ive gotten tons of complements. It is fine for DD but if you are going to race drag or track, just lowering is fine.

there's no reason not to do it. you're car buddy should know this lol.

lowering decreases wheel gap and give lower center of gravity while decreasing body roll, and spacers make the wheels look like they have a lower offset and line up with fender and inside the fender well better

Your "car buddy" doesn't want your car to look better than his. There are a lot of images on here with springs and spacers. Your car will look and handle 10 times better. I get complements all the time.

Only cons I can for see if you have some speed bumps from hell. They can scrape the underside. Just don't go crazy on lowereing and spacing.

FYI, I have steeda progresses and Garageline 1" spacer and my EB comes with the 19" PP wheels. No rubbing anywhere what so ever and perfectly flush.

One pain about going low is trashing your splitter and/or front fasica on a parking curb. You have to be aware at all times. Don't pull in a parking spot all the way. Tall speed bumps, steep drives, and sometimes rutted roads will make you scrape something. Coilovers are stiff but give you the ability to fine adjust height. If I were going with regular lowering springs (especially for a daily car) I would keep it conservative, maybe 1 inch or so?

Jonah your car looks great but how the heck do you not crash your tires into the fender lip?

There is actually a 1/2" gap. Plenty of room. Haven't had any rubbing issues at all.

So issues with spacers are that they increase the forces on the wheel hub and can cause premature wear, it can also lower the effectiveness of the suspension due to changing the leverage angle of the suspension.

Not much wrong with small amounts of lowering. The shocks can wear prematurely but that is about it as long as you can get them aligned correctly. One thing to worry about is that you will likely run out of camber adjustment from the stock slots and will need to add camber plates or slot the rear upper A arm.

I could never fit two adults in the back seat. It's usually my two boys 8 and 4 then my wife in the front.
