Greetings,
I have a 2022 Mustang GT Premium that has 1000 miles on it. It has a manual transmission and did not come with the performance package.
It came with the OEM 20" X 9” Premium-painted Aluminum Wheels from Ford. The tires are Good Year F1 265/35R20 99W
I am considering installing new Steeda Lowering Springs, Sport Progressive Set (Steeda: 555-8210)
It will Lower the car 1.125” in the Front and lower the car 1" in the Rear
The widest Steeda would ever recommend up front would be a 20x10" wheel +40mm offset with a 275/35-20 tire.
In the rear, they have tested a 20x10.5" wheel +45mm offset with a 295/35-20 tire.
I would like to have stiffer springs for better handling, but I am afraid that with the 20" wheels, and lowing the car, I am going to have issues with the tires hitting the wheel wells while turning or going over bumps. Also, will the car have issues with the chin spoiler hitting the ground with the car being an 1.125" lower in front?
I have already installed a BMR rear 25mm sway bar, but I left the stock 32mm front sway bar in place. I also do not understand what is meant by the 40mm & 45mm offset that Steeda is referencing.
I guess the bottom line is am I going to have problems installing new lowering springs, or should I leave the stock springs in place? The 20" wheels really fill the wheel wells rather nicely and there is not a lot of space between tire and car.
Does anyone know about stiffer springs that can be installed that do not lower the car? If you install new springs, do you also need an alignment done to your Mustang?
Please advise.
Thanks, Edgemere.............
