Lower ball joint failure

Just had the car on a lift to repair a TSB and noticed that my front driver's lower ball joint was completely shot. Only have 16,000 miles on her. Anyone else have any issues or did I just hit a huge pothole or something and not notice it?

Don't have pics but it's completely loose inside the ball joint like it just blew out.

Im actually surprised that this doesn’t come up more often on modern cars. In the utv world it’s pretty common.

Roads here are terrible in places so I'm not really surprised

I had the same issue at about 24k. Simple fix but a bit later the ball joint on the trailing control arm failed as well. I assume both went bad around the same time, but just something to be aware of. I assume one went and the added stress made the other go.

Any symptoms you noticed while driving? I ask because mine has started making a strange noise from the front driver wheel when I turn hard left. Almost like something is vibrating.

No, I actually wouldn't of realized if we hadn't been on the lift doing something else
