I had my GT towed in since it stalled on the highway and when restarted ran very rough(felt like multiple cylinders misfiring). They say the code is low compression on cylinder #1. I don't see any hits when I do a search but curious if anyone has any ideas? They say it will take a few days to take the engine apart and I might not hear anything until Monday.

The car is completely stock and was a fairly early build(I got it the beginning of Nov 2014).
Thanks,
Will

How many miles are on it? Did you hear any clattering noises when it was running rough? Let us know what they find out!

I'm interested as to how the on-board diagnostics can determine cylinder compression.

It would make sense if they said it was a misfire on cylinder 1, but low compression? Wouldn't that need to be checked with a compression tester?

No odd noises besides sounding rough. Certainly not a metallic or grinding sound.

Has 5800 miles.

I am curious how the system can tell compression as well.

Sorry man that is horrible news. Oddly being stock not sure what was going on there other than a crazy oil consumption issue. Hopefully the block is not scored or piston ring broken. Good luck keep us posted.

OP, sorry to hear. Unfortunately, things like this happen with high volume products/vehicles.

Please keep us updated.

As much as it hurts to say it, in this case, hopefully they are. If they have to tear the engine apart, I would hope it is completely trashed from the intake ports to the oil pick up tube.

I much rather see someone get an all new engine in their new car, than a rebuilt engine.

I am still holding out hope it is something simple but I have resigned myself to it being very bad. I guess a rebuild would be worse than a new engine, Although neither is good in my opinion.

Valve spring broke. They still need to check a few things to see if it caused any other damage.

Got the car back yesterday. No damage was caused by the spring breaking(according to the dealer/the machine shop they sent the head to for checking).

Hopefully no more issues.

Glad it turned out OK without any major damage. A failing valve spring seems like a very rare thing, as it's the first one I've heard of in the new Mustangs.
