You know what else I find a head scratcher? I think Ford Aus sucks and I do agree it's not all their fault but why have NewZealandera getting better service? Their allocation as a percentage of orders is apparently better, they have signed deals so that there is factory backed performance miss that can be added at the dealer and apparently they are QC ing in country on the. Socks and identifying and fixing issues before they reach customers.

Happy to be corrected on any of this but I had the Qc info from the horses mouth. Even more frustratinbis that I understand that Ford NZ is an arm of Ford AU.

Just strange

Was anyone who ordered specifically told Ford AU would communicated every stage of the build/delivery process? Or was this something they asked specifically of their dealer? Or did they come online and find resources?
When I ordered I was virtually forced to sign up to the SPAM list with comments like "you need to opt-in so Ford can keep you posted of all the updates" and "Ford will keep you posted on the build date, confirming the order, finalising the colour", etc.

None of that has happened. Maybe the dealers were misled about what Ford AU would actually do, but that blame still falls on Ford AU.

I do remember that marketing tick, I was told that they might send a welcome email, but he was unsure if everyone was getting them or just the preorders. Nothing else was mentioned. And no, not one email from Ford has been received.

So yeh, different dealers had different expectations of what it all meant.

Just heard some of my friends mentioning few days ago that their cars (mazda, other ford cars) took long to arrive as well. E.g. few years back one of my friend's ordered Mazda 6 and it took them 8 months to bring it from an international plant.

Personally, I felt very relieved after I joining the mustang6g forum. This was pretty much like a group therapy, if you ask me. We are all in this together, waiting for our dream cars to arrive. :headband: Only time I felt most burnt up was when that Radio guy got the delivery of first aussie mustang and he came in shorts to pick it up. Not to mention that sly grin on his face. :paddle:

After that, its just been one youtube video and forum topic after another to satisfy longing for my mustang (getting a bit poetic here) ;) All in all, I wanted this car in 2007 when I lived in US and now finally living in Oz with enough money to get my own.

Love you all, peace :)

you're pretty much right on this .Ford NZ is owned 100% by Ford AU so same senior management at top level.
Our vehicles are trucked off the wharf and go to a compound here in Auckland where things like wrong wheels , panel issues, wiring loom issues, get sorted before the cars get released to the dealers
Also I understand they do the whole shipment before releasing any, they are not released progressively as they are done.
Accordingly a lot of grief gets sorted behind closed doors that the buyer doesn't know about ie wrong coloured wheels.
Having said that the average buyer gets no details about etis, vins, allocated ships etc and is just told an approx. arrival time ie "late April"

The data flow from Ford NZ to the dealers is purposely very limited and sometimes I think Ford is run by the CIA or the KGB working strictly on a "need to know basis"

Happy Anzac Day, guys, (maybe we should have invaded FlatRock Michigan rather than Turkey?)

I've got a lot of sympathy for ozengine and his point of view. Many of us have a lot of frustration with FordAU, and many of us have vented our spleen on this forum. I reckon if he wrote that email in Nov 15 the response here would have been much more supportive.

There are several points that I would like to raise:
- Ford have never promised me anything other than a Mustang 15 months after I ordered it. At the moment, they are perhaps 1-2 months ahead of that schedule. They never promised me any contact, any emails, any updates, and they have just about lived up to that non-promise perfectly.

- This forum has promoted a lot of angst e.g. some have received welcoming emails, others nothing. It's quite worrying getting nothing (like me) - has the dealer put my order in, does Ford even know I exist, have I been bumped down the list without knowing, why has (s)he got his car and I haven't etc.

- This forum has provided tons of useful information and I love it! I've learned to hassle my dealer for a NSC, I've learned that the FordAU Facebook team are fantastic, I have my VIN and I know how to get my window sticker and how to track the car to my door. I've discovered about a million ways to mod my car and spend money, I've learned how to get the best deals and who to buy from, I'm informed about how to deal with the dealer when I go to pick up the car, and know about common defects to look out for. I AM an INFORMED customer, and that is invaluable.

- I think that many of us lament Ford's wasted opportunity in using us for "word of mouth" advertising. We could have been their greatest advocates if fed just a little bit of information. For instance, I signed up to both FordUSA and Ford AU emails about the Mustang from day 1, I think I've had 2 emails in over 18 months!

- I note that there is a distinct change in these forums in, say, the last 4 months. What's changed? Oh yeah, some us have been getting our cars! There's a lot more happiness now, a lot of positive experiences. Thank goodness our beautiful cars are capable of selling themselves!

Anyway, my 2 cents worth. Long live the Mustang:amen:

Well said Davo, totally agree with everything you have written.
Ford AU rang me last week for a follow up on the Mustang delivery, and as per their email survey it was all about the dealer which was 100+% in my case, I asked her if I could talk about Ford AU and its generally poor communication, she said that they had received many complaints and understood they need and were working on this for their customers and thanked me very much for my feedback.
I don't think it is an issue whether Ford promised feedback or not, it is (most of) Ford customers saying it is badly needed and they will either listen or not.
In this day in age all the data is being generated, NSC, Vin, Build Date, Shipped from Flat Rock, Arrived at dock. Received by WWL, Loaded on ??? ship, Unloaded date, picked up by truck, delivered to dealer and our Email, It would not be hard for a program to be written to collect all that data as it is updated and automatically sent to our email provided, what I find unbelievable is Ford US can only access some of the data and Ford AU a limited amount only after WWL updates their system, you would think that the above data would already be supplied to Ford and its various departments. IMHO only

+1 Ozengine. I'm still considering putting a f u Ford Au sticker on the back of the stang but have been too busy driving

"We'll keep you updated every step of the way" = What a joke. Luckily I found Aussie Mates goto guide and ended up getting an accurate build date & delivery info from Ford US.

My experience with various FOA staff = :frusty: In particular the Customer Relationship Centre were incompetent aresholes who blatantly knew nothing, were not willing to find out any of my questions & refused to give me the VIN (in the end the dealer just sent me a screenshot of vista).

I look forward to receiving that call...

My major problem with Ford AU was even when it was discovered after months of denial that they had in fact stuffed up my orders here was not so much as an apology let alone any action to set things right. It was also only down to my persistence in chasing them up and driving them crazy that they actually looked further than the screen in front of them to discover the problem.

When the Mustang was first rumoured, I knew I was buying one. Ford could have had a Mustang buyer for life, every 4 years...I will now own 1 Mustang, and never buy another Ford ever again.
