First time posting here. Sorry if very broad. Looking for advice on purchasing a 2020-2022 GT500. Advice, questions to ask, tracking wear concerns etc. I have seen things like Manufacturer Customer Satisfaction Program for cars that have been repurchased by Ford - smoking engine. Issues with the 2022 engines. Anything and everything helps avoid potential purchase mistakes. Thxs. S

Just like any other car, get an inspection. Make sure if it has over 20k miles they did a DCT filter change.

Haven't heard anything about engine problems on any of the s550 GT500's. They're pretty bulletproof.

Think about an extended warranty. The engines are $25k, the DCTs are like $12-15k if I remember correctly.

Welcome to the forum, Scott although there isn't all that much to talk about in terms of issues. First and foremost, I have a '20 and it is, without ANY doubt, THE most AMAZING vehicle I have ever owned and I am one hundred percent certain that whichever model year you wind up with, you'll be one happy camper.

Yes, there have been a few issues with them but what high performance factory vehicle doesn't have them? The only recall that I think is uber important is the brake pedal on the 2020's and odds are Ford has replaced all of those by now. Sort of along the same lines but not as critical is the software update for the brake system. There was apparently a problem with the system being able to determine low fluid quantity but that's just a software update.

Another one that is pretty important is leaking transmission cooler lines and Ford has issued a fix for that as well. Based on the occurrence of this one with forum owners (very few,) it doesn't seem like there were all that many that leaked.

Aside from those and a few other miscellaneous CSP's and recalls, IMHO this is by FAR THE best GT-500 that has ever been produced and the real "magic" is the DCT.

FWIW, I have had zero issues with my '20.

I like to disassemble things.
Avoid the 2020 version if it is white with a black roof. They were the fastest of the bunch (by far) and could get you in trouble with the law like no other.
