So I picked up 2 wheels from a Ford dealership in AR for $700 each complete with tires, TPMS, and center caps. The rear wheel was near perfect, except that it had a 305 mounted on it. The front wheel is in excellent condition with the exception of the ceramic coating on the barrel. Today I prepped it for repair and readied the damaged spots for re-coating.

My curiosity is the tires that came with the wheel. They are Lionheart tires? Never heard of them. They certainly don't look like track tires and was hoping someone who knows of them can attest to their quality or the lack thereof.

Thoughts?

Yes I know Lionhart tires. They are a discount brand, but a very good value. They are no comparison to Michelin for traction, but as far as treadwear and build quality they hold up well. They are marketed as a summer performance tire, but they perform more like an all season. At 1/4 the price of Michelin, you can't expect the same performance from them, and I would never expect to see them on a GT500.

No, I think it was one of the wheel weights. They were not mounted correctly. Either way, I can repair it.

The tires have to go I'm afraid.

Beautiful Wheels and great pick up! Lionhart tires are a good all season tire. If you are looking to do some spirited driving I would definitely swap them out. This is junior at Need4Speed if you need any help with tires let me know

Thanks.

Last year at Daytona, there was a guy who blew a tire and needed to get home. He was SOL. It was a Sunday and he had zero options, that is until he ran into me. I went home and brought him back an old 305/30/20 that got him home that night.

I'll keep those tires around for instances like that. You never know.

Can you repair the ceramic coating properly in some way, or does that require farming it out?

Yes, I can repair it. I may get around to it tonight or tomorrow. I cleaned the ceramic up with some detergent and a magic eraser. All prepped and ready to apply.

Interesting. I’ve never seen a dealership sell used parts. Entire vehicles obviously yes but miscellaneous obviously used parts, no. Good grab for the OP.

It was acquired through ebay. The return label on the box was a Ford dealership. Likewise with the other wheels from dealerships I have purchased. Generally speaking, these are somebody's F-up. In this instance, I believe the clown who installed the wheel weights may or may not still have a job. I stronly suspect that the dealership had to buy new wheels for the customer.

What else would a dealership do with wheels they got stuck with?

Good wheels, they just need some work that not a lot of people know that can be repaired.

When wheels like this pop up, you have to pounce on them. Don't ask a lot of stupid questions and ask for photos. Buy them (almost sight unseen). Most everything can be repaired with the exception of structural damage to the hub or spoke.

yes sir, you said you repaired or can repair the coating on the front wheels
Yes I can.
Anyone who owns a set of wheels that has suffered this kind of damage can reach out to me and I will work with them.
