The local speedshop raves about the automatic, especially with the blower kits but I've read about problems with the hydraulic line, clutch, and shifter on the MT82. I just don't want to have to immediately throw on $1000 worth of mods to make it work right.
You're complaining about something you have 0 1st-hand knowledge on, based on whining on the internet.

The transmission is fine, no problems. The 2011-2014 MT82s were the problem childs, the 2015-2017 is fine.

Invoice pricing for the configuration I wanted was around $41k, and that's close to X-Plan pricing:

GT Premium, 401A, Security Package, Automatic, 20x9 wheels w/ 265/35R20 summer tires, Reverse Sensing System, and Navigation.

I can't get the PP with the automatic, so the next best wheel/tire combo would be the 20x9s, as I can eventually slip 275s or 285s over them. I don't like buying multiple sets of wheels. I'd normally have gone with the manual, but I'm not yet sold on the MT82.
I doubt you are fitting 285s on 20x9s.
Also please be aware the foundrys are incredibly heavy. I have both the PP wheels and the foundrys. The foundry wheels are heavier than the PP wheels. I think they are around 36 lbs a piece. Considering there are aftermarket wheels around 22lbs that's a huge amount of additional weight.

My MT82 has been fantastic.

My MT82 has been fine in my 2016 GT PP Premium.

Your price quote seems a bit high. I have seen the car you are looking for at around $38k. Mine with a manual and loaded was only $36k. Check Ricart Ford or Koons Ford. They seems to have some of the best prices. If you can wait till the 18's start to come out I bet you could get a steal on one that a dealer still has in stock at that point.

Having said all of that...if you can get a GT350 at MSRP then get that.

If you were to get the 2018, would you still opt for the Mt82 over the 10R80?

I'll check out those dealers. I'm not sure how they are selling for so much below invoice. It looks like the rebate is $1900 currently, but that would still put it closer to $40k.

Thanks for the info on the Foundry wheels. I've just heard a lot of complaints online about the MT82 on S197 that made me hesitant to get one on the S550.

Probably yea. It's not always about fastest acceleration time.

It looks like Ricart Ford does have them for $38k, and my local dealer (Suburban Ford Sterling Heights MI) only lists prices close that as A/Z plan pricing (Employee/Retiree)!

This right here. I thought I was the only one. I rented GT premium with 3.55 and foundry wheels. Since it was my first time actually driving GT, the entire car felt really bulky (given that it weighs about 3700lbs). Accelerating from deadstop/roll the car felt bit sluggish. I haven't driven the PP car so I cant say about them.

I contacted Ricart and as I suspected, that's A plan pricing but with a caveat. Apparently if a car sits in their lot past a certain time, they can offer A plan pricing without the actual A plan, but won't accept a trade in or offer it on factory order without an actual A Plan PIN. That's why the local Southeast mIchigan dealers including the #1 volume sales in the US lists it as A/Z plan pricing, but that is still a great deal if you're willing to buy one off the lot.

Take one a few few extended test drives before you buy. In my case the complaints you're hearing were valid.

Not sure why you'd consider a GT when you can get a GT350 for MSRP.

The price delta is over $20k, they are quite different cars from what I'm reading. One is better suited for the street, the other is aimed purely for the track. I was hoping the GT350 could do both fairly well.
