Buuuutttt… look at that horribly hideous locking cap- that is one fugly part. Not gonna touch my car.
This is a plug that fits where the gas fill nozzle goes in the tube. It does not replace the body Color fill cover. That stays in place. I have it and it works fine. It would only slow a potential thief or vandal but sometimes that is enough to make them move on.

Dumb question here.......how can someone safely drill through a gas tank without it exploding due to a spark or hot metal igniting the fuel?

Liquid gasoline itself is not flammable. While still not safe, drilling into the bottom probably wont cause any ignition.

The tank is made of plastic. There will be no sparks, and the drill won't get even close to hot enough to ignite anything.

They don't? It was an assumption on my part due to the no gas cap feature.

Most of the new cars I work on have it. I just assumed it was on the Mustang.

It needs it. Maybe the S650 will lock.
Wow, note to self: Firsttexan makes confident assertions when he actually has no idea.

I can see it happening if you drill a steel tank with a steel bit at a slight angle on a really hot day. But of course our cars have a plastic tank. You have to go back 15-20+ years now to find steel tanks on cars.

I'm really not sure of that, have never seen a drill bit spark. And I've drilled my fair share of metal.

Speaking of a sheet metal tank, the small gauge won't get that hot also, fuel being the coolant in this case.

Anything can happen of course, but this is about as likely as getting struck by lighting>

Plastic has a much greater chance of fire in a crash, the reason is obvious.

I agree it's basically impossible, but I was just trying to imagine the most likely way to get it to happen. Although I kinda wish it did always happen to discourage that absolute scumbag behavior.

not until fuel pours out onto and into the drill, vaporizes and starts bonding with oxygen.

What the heck is that? Do those five holes go through the plastic? If so it kind of defeats the purpose. Here’s the OEM Ford cap.

Yes the holes are through. Might be a new version? It’s OEM from Levittown.
