Once again I'm just curious, no hidden "intent" here........if Ford would have said from the start that 'if you intend to track the car at all, you need to order the track pack', would some/many/most ? of the people that ordered tech pack cars had given up the seats, the Nav, the radio, etc. and gone ahead and got the Track Pack?

If I new this I would had made 1 of 2 choices

1. By the track package and try to upgrade the interior

2. Look for a different car that met my intent

100% honesty? Yep. I would have found a track pack and would have reconfigured the dash. I would have probably had the recaros recovered in leather and had seat coolers put in them.

hindsight is 20/20.

If that limitation was clear, would have gone with the M3 w/manual transmission. Able to get it over here for slightly more than the Tech Pkg Shelby, and it does/has what Ford advertised the Tech Pkg does/has.

I would do something like that around that cost if, Ford supported the mod by not voiding my warranty.

Would have ordered track pack if Ford stated the following:
1) Coolers are NECESSARY if you are going to track the car.
2) Ford has no plans to offer coolers as accessory items for retrofit. Use of aftermarket coolers will void warranty claims to those systems attached to said coolers.

These two simple statements would have helped the customer greatly.

Instead what I saw in the literature (not verbatim):
Coolers are recommended if you will track your car (by saying recommended it appears they are leaving the option open to purchase factory accessory coolers and retrofit a Base or Tech)

I love this car and only intend to track it a couple of times a year so I'm not overly upset about the limp mode issue however some straight talk from Ford would have helped.

You read what you wanted to hear into Fords statement. they were telliing you that you had 2 choices...

1) buy a TP car.
2) install aftermarket coolers on a base/tech.

I wish tilton would tell you what the flow rate is on that pump.

I'd love to know if it was 3GPM or not.

Instead of the summit finned cooler, i'd also probably use the factory part and the associated aero bits & brackets.

As a nice favor, could someone with a track pack take a picture of the cooler lines going to/from the rear diff and where the lines connect to the differential? pretty please?

it says 1-2gpm@12v in the description, the TP cars pump 3gpm but at what rpm?

i found a different pump that is quieter than tilton and flows 3GPM. its a little bit more expensive, but worth it.

Can you please elucidate on where and what model pump please? That sounds like a very crucial aspect for the whole DIY cooler crowd. Thanks.

Since last July, I have used this custom made heat shield w/ DEI heat reflector on my Z06.... I think it helped a bit as I saw Oil temps drop 3-5 degrees before and after. So this is another possibility... a pair of heat shields for the GT350's trans body to be shielded from the cats. Just throwing ideas out there....
I would really like to do something on that order.

I contacted Tremec engineering about the issue, they referred me to this company for a cooling kit.

"Hello,

When installing an oil cooler on this transmission, use the drain hole for your pump supply and the fill hole as your return.

I also have a distributor “Hanlon Motorsports 610-469-2695” that has an oil cooler kit for this application.

Thanks,

Dale Lisowski Sr.
Customer Service Representative"
Thanks! FYI, I've dealt with Hanlon a number of times in the past when rebuilding various Tremec transmissions and I have had nothing but good experiences with them. Both Bob and his wife are easy to work with and very knowledgeable.

I would have bought the track pack for sure. Really the seats are the only thing I really wanted in the tech pack. I probably wouldn't have even been able to drive the car home with the Recaros in it, but I'm sure I could easily have found a friend to help me with that. ;)

I do love all the conveniences of the tech pack now that I have them, but even though I'm only planning to go to the track a few times a year, that's way more important to me than a few luxury items. My previous car was a base 2015 GT, so it's not like I'm a person that has to have leather or suede in my ride. I really didn't mind the interior in the 2011 base GT (Brembos and gears were the only options on it) I owned either. I thought it was fine.

I agree - I wish Ford had said something very specific like, "you will not be able to complete a 20 minute HPDE, even if you are a novice and ambient temperatures are 60 F." The vague language gave me no reason to think ANY GT350 would completely suck at the track.

Except that Ford isnt going to warranty a car broken on the track competitvely racing to begin with, so aftermarket coolers for racing shouldn't begin to be an issue
