Anyone else find that after getting the car they start changing their mind about mods like tints? I have a full set for front and rear in smoke with red rear lights and not sure I want to fit it now...
Yes. I haven't fitted my tints yet or the rear decklid.

Yes, before I ordered I wanted the following:
Satin Frozen Metalic Blue wrap
Carbon fibre side skirts, front splitter, rear diffuser and interior dash trim (Where the aluminium is at the moment), all wrapped.
Decklid replacement
No exhaust
No interior mods other than above
no light mods
Wanted sequentials,
front tri bar DRLs

What I've ended up doing is below, and what I plan to do is the following:
Sequentials with switchback if price is right. for both front and backs (So can pass MOTs, Dodge the police etc)
Exhaust in august when Guy gets it and sends it over

Modded interior to add piping
added engine cover
redid the rear lights to red tints
Added LEDs to the front

In short, only things I did do that, I had planned, was to get an exhaust...

Originally I was also worried about handbrake and cup holders (Only nuisance is cup holders for gear changing), the rear decklid, and some other stuff I know give 0 sh1ts about.

In short, all my worries went out the window.

As for you, I'd just try both smoked lights and red lights and see which you prefer, I think TY works better with Smoked lights, especially if you have a black roof or black stripes especially with the non-cp wheels. If it's got CP white lights look fine :). Talking rear tints, I wouldn't personally touch the fronts...

@lennyb you're welcome, one of my favourite mods, but i'll tell you that about all of them - except the sidelights which I still think was slightly pointless lmao, still end up looking at them just for the sake of the £3 it cost me :crazy:

Glad I posted this thread initially because yes it has changed my mind, but through informed opinion on here not through hype and internet experts. Well done this forum!

I am going to try and aim for rear in smoke , reverse light, high level brake etc (avoiding red rears only because of the car colour) I may tint front fog lights and side lights but I am going to leave the headlights well alone owing to reading some informed opinion on here. Sadly I have a long time to wait so one benefit of that is that I will get to see many variations from the stock look. Not much benefit to waiting a long time but this could be one. The moment the warranty goes south then we will be going nuts with more but looks like that is 4 years away yet !

Thought I'd resurrect this thread as probably of interest to a few new owners...

Anyone else fitted red tints to the rear lights and/or side repeaters? Pics would be good:thumbsup:
I like the look of the US spec and am thinking of tinting mine red, any thoughts on where to get them and how easy they are to apply? Also, how easy are the rear lights to remove?

1) they're tints, vinyl tints, you don't remove the rear lights! you do it with them on the car.
2) Fairly easy but if you have a pro vinyl tint place / wrap place - take it there, probably quicker!
3) They're from Anchor room, there's also a Dutch guy on the forums who sells them - ask Kristian87 , you can also buy any red vinyl tint (abou 1m of it) and ask your local wrap company to fit and cut them on - all work. I know SpArKy bought tint from amazon and did it that way!

No contest.

The clear lenses work better with some colours than others, but the reds work with all.

Don't need to remove the lights to tint.

Tints from Anchor Room in the US have more of a gloss finish whereas the ones from the guy in Holland are more matt. Glossy ones look more OEM IMO although you can only tell when you get close.

AM sells a full tint kit for very little money. My tint guy didn't want to put it on at first but once he tested one piece he did the entire thing, said it was very good quality and easy to put on.

I'm quite interested in this kit would you be willing to supply some pictures of you're car with the tints on?

Have found a vinyl wrapping place near me which advertises light tints, so this sounds like a good place to start! Their online gallery shows a couple of mustangs fitted with stripes too:thumbsup:

tint from
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00EIMZQ8W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

fitted by local tint company. it lets a lot more light through than the anchor room kit (particularly indicators which are a nice yellow still), but doesn't look quite as Red, but really not that much difference, not that I care about anyway.

i previously had ordered anchor room kit, tried fitting myself following the oh so simple instruction video. Didn't go to plan, and looked terrible. :headbonk: also by the time you've paid royal mails £8 'handling fee' and customs charges the anchor room stuff is VERY expensive for tint.

Well that's always positive, they're fairly easy to do.

I'd recommend just rubbing ur hands over the moulding points, if the actual edging of the moulting point is sharp, I'd sand it down with some high grit sandpaper (tbh, any work, but higher grit is less noticeable) as when you was it you may cause the vinyl to split - which we believe is the reason mine split :)!

Better safe than sorry!!!

I had the Anchor Room tints put on last week, but I'm not 100% happy as there's a little bit of light creep from the indicators. I might have been unlucky but the cut definitely wasn't right.

Also I ordered the wrong tint for the side reflectors, so now they just look like a dirty orange instead of red. :headbonk:

Got it booked in this Friday with a local company to remove and laquer paint the lights from the inside and also paint the reflectors instead. Hoping this makes it look a little less 'after-market' than the vinyls do.

If you don't mind me asking, how much roughly does it cost to have them painted? Would like to see that in the flesh.

Hi,

Its £144 total, including removal of the rear light & reflector vinyls I had put on last week. If the removal wasn't needed the works would have been £125.

When you factor in the cost of the Anchor Room vinyls, plus installation, and the customs charge etc, its only £20-30 more expensive.

I'll update the thread once its done and post some pictures at the weekend.

Fair enough, my fitting was £60 though, so £90-ish total (especially now the pound to dollar is weak as p*ss).

From your pictures, your vinyls look really good (hence why I went with Anchor Room in the first place). I was unlucky and disappointed that with mine, the cut just isn't right. I cant fault the fitter - it just clearly isn't a good measure, don't know why?

I'm hoping with the lacquer painting that it'll be a similar red, but offer a little more transparency, allowing the internal detail of the light casing to be a bit more visible also.
