Hi,

So I was wondering what the out the door price I should expect on an order I placed today.

After X-Plan pricing it totaled $37553.06. I was told that out the door is approximately $37553.06 + $275 Admin fee + $100 Document fee + 8% sales tax ($3004.24) + 2.25% License & Registration ($844.94) = ~$41,777.

I thought License & Registration was suppose to be a static fee? When I plugged in the info into the California DMV site, Registration Fees came out to be $345.

It's always been a percentage of value of the car. The amount gets smaller as the car gets older (depreciates) down to a minimum which right now I think is $65. Your first time also includes a one time charge for license plates and probably some kind of fee to put it in the system.

The DMV has been overcharging people on their registration for a very long time. http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/20...housands-of-drivers-for-vehicle-registration/

I think that in California a good estimate is the price you've agreed to, plus 10% for tax, license, and registration. That's what I'm figuring for mine. I'm in Orange county, if that helps

Nevada is the worst for registrations it's going to cost me a little over $700.00.
With all the so called taxes and fees. Just for my tags and plates $3400 for sales tax.

OP - I would say to trust the information the CA DMV website gives you.

It's the horse's mouth, if you will.

$700. HA, I wish I were only paying $700, and mine is taxed only on the difference of what I pay versus my trade-in. It's easily going to cost me $2k just for taxes alone. If I buying without a trade-in, it'd be closer to $4k.

Holy crap that's expensive! In "Taxachusetts" title is 75, registration 50 (2 years) sales tax is 6.25%. So the out the door price is about 37k on a 34.8k car. The only thing we get hammered on is excise tax, paid to the town but that's billed after the fact. It's based on value so it continues to drop, I was paying about 100 for my beaters from the 90's. My wife's Jeep was still I think only 300.

Maine is rough on excise tax, based off original MSRP for ever. The multiplier is the only thing that changes. After the first time I registered a car up there I learned my lesson. Every other car I owned in Maine "had" roll up windows, no ac, no ps, pb etc... If you know what I mean.

My wife just looked it up $420 for the year on a 28k 14 Jeep. That may be prorated from March when we bought it, but still not bad.

Some of these amount almost makes NC sound cheap! Tag is $28, title is $40, and Highway Use Tax is 3%. If you trade in a car, you only pay the 3% on the difference in value. I'm looking at about $550 if I trade it in, or about $1050 if I sell the current car myself. We also have an annual property tax on our cars, which will probably start out at $500-600 for the first year and decrease each year as the value goes down. Property tax on my 95 GT (not a daily driver) was only $35 this year...

Man...I guess Arkansas at that bad at all.

Doc Fee = I THINK its $250 max
Tax = 6% (calculated on trade in difference)
Registration Fee = 3001 - 4500lbs is $25
Title Fee = $10
Tag Transfer Fee = $1

in IL: 191.27 doc and ert fee, plus tax 7.25% (less for trade in, DuPage County), plus plates 196
Maybe 7.25% in ChiTown area but the rest of the state is 6.25% sales tax (thank goodness). Doc fee minimum is around $161. You will have to share ert fee with me don't know what that is, could be another Chicago area tax. Plates and title registration is the $196 mentioned.

doc & ert just: "electronic registration and title fee". Apparently it is an IL thing... shit.

at least I'm not buying in the city (cook county) where the tax is like 10% or something ridiculous.
