led tail lights

There has been talk about the ECU version and Au versions not having the led turn signal sequencal lights which is standard in the USA version.
I found this device on line which may allow us to restore the led lights to how they are meant to work.. it's called the raxiom tail light sequencer

If I'm not mistaken, the euro version has the outer lights setup as amber. And, the two inner lights as red.

Would require fitting the US tail lights, but add the missing amber illumination required for Aus.

Maybe lets all wait and see the clear lights in person. It might change your mind, It doesn't concern me as much. Keep in mind they did clear lights to be in line with aus regulations. I dare say changing them will make your car un roadworthy thus voiding any insurance claim. Becareful!

I agree we need to wait. I would prefer the US lights, but the clear lights are growing on me. From videos on the UK thread, it looks like they will be 3 red leds when lights are on, and alter when brakes are applied or a turn signal activated.:shrug:

Anyone considered tinting the tail lights red or using something like VHT red tint?

The amber/yellow indicator would be easily fixable by using a green bulb. Like most BMW's etc, they shine through as orange/yellow, when it's through the red tint.

Hopefully someone like 'Big Worm Graphics' will do a red tint. They currently do various tints for the tail lights in the USA. I imagine there would be large enough demand with the oz and European markets. I will wait to see the car in the flesh!

It won't be simple to convert the EU tails to have all red LEDs though! Most tail lights can't be simply baked and opened up, they usually have to be cut open.

The problem with that is that the tail lights are all LED - there are no bulbs that can be changed.

You'd have to solder on new LEDs or replace the entire PCB

In addition, you have to make sure the LEDs are designed for the drivers used from the factory as well

A defect for playing around with the lights. Just what you need with your new Mustang

I wonder if the amber LED is still visible as amber through a red tint??? I'm sure I have seen other threads where this has been the case!:shrug::shrug:
