My 07 G35 leather seats look brand new,and my year old Mustang seats look like crap.My dealer had a ulpolsterer work 4 hours on trying to stretch the wrinkles out.He says they are stitched too loose. The side is wearing too, time for another TSB.
Same here, my '03 G35 seats have held up great with little tending to on my part.
The drivers seat needs refoaming, but given it's endured my lard butt for 13 yrs & 117K miles hardly a surprise.

6 mnths/1,200 miles and these Mustang seats are already showing wear signs

I was looking @ my seats today & noticed the sides that face the center console are CLOTH - Geezzzzz .......................

Clearly the bolsters are vinyl, the only leather on these seats is the center inserts (where you sit & where your back touches).
I believe the cloth you're referring to on the inside is done on purpose as that's the part that would rub against the seatbelt latch. I noticed that a while ago myself but again, I think it's there for protection.

As for the seats themselves, I've had my GT Premium w/leather for over 1.5 years and have about 22,000 miles on it. Seats look brand new. I'm about 5'-10" and 160 lbs.

I've conditioned the seats probably 2-3 times since purchase. Most recently I used some Meguire's Ultimate Leather Balm which seemed to do a nice job with it.

Got approved by Ford for a new seat cover. Just need to wait for it to come in at dealer.

Their response was the whole seat is leather ... I don't think so. It's been discussed many times and the conclusion is that only the center seating areas on the bottom and back are real leather. The sides where your wear is occurring is vinyl or similar material.

Isn't that type of wear due to how an individual is entering/exiting the vehicle - meaning consistently rubbing up against the material with jeans, jackets, etc.?

I have over 8k on my leather seats since Dec 2015 (Ceramic at that) and don't see any such wear patterns on the leather bolster or the "pleather" side panel stitched to the bolster.

Yes, it is.

It's more likely to be seen on highly bolstered seats, like the ones in S550 Mustangs. I have absolutely zero wear on the seats in my Edge Sport after almost 20,000 miles, and they have similar bolsters to the Mustang. However, I don't drag my jeans across the seat bolster every time I enter or exit the vehicle

I don't see how that's a "defect", interesting to see that they are covering it under warranty. Most likely a customer satisfaction gesture as opposed to a warrantable defect in the material.
