I understand this is subjective so this may be a question that's best answered by a vendor who's heard all of the different systems and gotten feedback from clients but after having my MBRP street on for a couple weeks and 1500+ miles I've determined that I don't like the way the system rasps at 3/4 throttle to WOT. Man do I ever love the deep tones until that point though, which I'm assuming is because it's an H system. Shopping for another system has me stumped though because they all seem to have one level of rasp or another. I get that once you start going with a cat back system, deleting the resonator and adding straight through mufflers it's unavoidable but what system produces the least rasp? I just don't like the tinny metallic sound it makes inside the cabin, especially windows up.

It seems the corsa extreme of all the cat back systems has the most consistent sound across the rpm range but I haven't heard that one in person (and in the car more imp.) either. I don't mind a loud exhaust but I'm starting to think I'm going to have to put the stock resonator back in with an aggressive axle back to get the sound I'm looking for (or so I think).

Anyone gone through this? @beefcake, Is my desired sound like trying to find a tan red head [emoji6]?

Thanks for the help.....

They're all going to have some rasp at 3/4 to WOT. You can't avoid that when you have an engine that revs to 7,000 RPMs. The Magnaflow will probably be least raspy available followed by SW and ARH with H.

My magnaflow "competition" sounds amazing at part throttle accel, raspy as hell at full throttle upper RPMs. Hopefully adding the LTHs will just blow your ears out so you dont notice.

I can't comment on catback (which i know is your question). However, I have no raspiness in my set-up, which is:

- GT Premium A/T
- Ford Racing resonator delete X-Pipe
- Magnaflow axle back
- 4" Stainless tips

I seem to be the only guy with a Gibson Cat Back. I will try to get some sound clips of mine. Actually raining right now in southern California if you can believe that. It definitely has a raspy sound but as of now I like it. Cant hear it at a stop light but when you start to drive, it has a nice and deep sound to about 5kish then it gets raspy, kind of an acquired sound...

I personally like the ARH catback as I don't think we have much rasp however, most all kits will have some slight raspiness to them when going WOT.

The h systems really give you the deepest tone

Allot like rasp though. Nothing wrong with it. Just personal preference

I love my Gibson, pretty much nailed it above. I'd be curious to hear it with a custom H pipe setup but love it as is too.

Grats on the rain, you guys need it.

Thanks for the input guys - how did I miss your video of that full ARH system jay? I totally missed ARH when making my first choice. If I do their cat back can I add their catted headers in later (bolt in)?

Slight modification is required. The neck down portion of the catback would need to be cut off but other then that its really an easy install. Although that modification is required its still and awesome system:)

Are the ARH mufflers straight through? From the pictures it seems like there's an offset from inlet to outlet which would lead me to believe they are chambered in some way.

Ditto! It has a nice rumble at low rpms. I think every system will have a small amount of rasp at wot and high rpm. That's just how this motor screams. At least, every system i have heard does. For the money (sub $600) its the best sounding system out there. Sometimes i do wish i would have gotten an h pipe res delete and threw on an axel back, but that can always be done later.

Yep, ARH is straight through.
