I think it is due to the new free flowing heads that cause the rasp. Even the new GT350 sounds quite odd.

I've noticed that the rasp is more dependent on how much throttle you apply than the rpm range, although there is basically nothing you can do about rasp in the last 1-2k rpm range.

My ARH exhaust will sound smooth and deep all the way up to 5500 or 6000 rpm if i'm at 1/4 or 1/3 throttle, but once I tip in harder than that it will immediately get "raspy", even if I go full throttle at say 2 or 3k rpm.

It's not as bad as the X pipe setups I hear, but it seems to be unavoidable. It's just a characteristic of this engine. Nothing you will do will make it sound like a 2v 4.6L or a 2v 5.0L. Hell, even the 3v 4.6L engines have a "deeper" tone than this engine.

This is my exhaust, ARH Catback with an H pipe. I prefer it over all of the other exhausts that I've heard, save maybe the Corsa Xtreme which is just too loud for me. You can hear in the beginning how it's smooth throughout the RPM range so long as I only give it a little throttle. As soon as I stomp it on it gets that rasp that is inevitable with these engines.

Well the GT350 has a completely different engine than the coyote 5.0. It's a flat plane crank which makes a completely different sound.

The GT350 as we all know is a FPC but it also comes from the factory with an x-pipe. An x-pipe is going to provide more of that raspy sound vs. h-pipe.

Here is my Roush AB with the Ford Racing x-pipe. This will help with sound comparisons.

I understand it has a flat plane crank but I thought that crank is for purposes of revving up to 8K rpms...I'm just speculating. Somebody school me.
