Im making the uneducated assumption that there is zero to negligble performance increase between a cat back vs axle back vs stock exhaust, so therefore is there any reason to buy a cat back over axle back?

I want more noise, nothing abusive or droning, something that makes it sound more like the honest and meaty v8 it is. And id like to convert to quad exits. I'll buy a cat back if there is a reason to but from previous cars I've owned, it makes pretty much no difference, its kinda just nice to say more of the exhaust is x or y performance brand.

On these S550 the catback gets rid of the restrictive resonator which also muffles the sound quiet a bit. But you can also do axlebacks and a X/H pipe for similar results. It doesn't seem like any of the axelbacks are too aggressive but an the X/ or H pipe and it's super loud.

I've got Borla ATAKs and it was ok but once I added an H pipe it was super aggressive. Zero drone the highway too.

I was glad I choose catback just for ease of installation. I didn't have to deal with measuring and cutting an axle back or matting an axle back to a resognator delete pipe and hopping the extra connections line up and don't leak.

Two reasons I would personally buy a catback over an axleback. 1st would be that you wont have to hack up your OEM exhaust, just "in case" you ever decide to sell or go back to stock, its as easy as just slapping it back on. 2nd like mentioned already is removing the suitcase resonator that's not only restrictive but heavy.

Give us a shout, either way you take we'll be happy to help you out!!

You are correct, zero to negligble for PERFORMANCE purposes. But to me a fine sounding exhaust sans the suitcase can make other actual power add-ons that much more enjoyable.

LOL when you add a X or H pipe the system is a cat back.

Has anyone added an X or H pipe to the Pypes Street Pro Touring axel back? I'm really itching to do it but I'm afraid it will be too loud and cause it to start droning

Honestly, I think most exhaust prices are absurd. I'd rather pay a shop to weld in an x, a couple of mufflers, and some tips. Of course some systems are tuned for zero drone or a specific sound, but to me, that sound difference isn't worth the extra $$$, and keeping my stock exhaust "for later..maybe" just wouldn't work with apartment space. I think there's a thread somewhere here about someone welding in gt500 takeoffs for quad exhaust.

Another cost effective route would be to troll the sale section. People are often letting aftermarket exhaust go for much cheaper than new. Since you're wanting quads, that might limit the possibilities, but doesn't hurt to look. Gt500 takeoffs shouldn't be too hard to find used on other Shelby focused forums.

Edit: found the thread, but it's for 11/12 single exit takeoffs. Not sure if the dual takeoffs would work. Here's the thread: http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45228&highlight=Gt500+exhaust

I love th corsa touring axle backs. Sound perfect to me. Zero drone, very quiet when you want them to be but can definitely hear the car scream when on it.

Let me know if you'd like any pricing. We have some huge sales going on for mustang exhausts!
