Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone had experienced a leaking engine mount? It was highlighted in my service (screenshots below from service video) with a cursory "recommend replacement of that" comment. I can guess it's a big job that a numpty like me isn't going to be able to do, but is it urgent? Am I safe to drive? It's a 2020 with about 16k miles so kind of frustrating!

I suppose a cross-post on the US forums might get more responses but wanted to check with you guys first.

Cheers

It needs doing or you’ll get a horrible vibration through the car at idle, it’s not something I’d tackle myself and I’m in the motor trade, yes it’s safe to drive in the meantime

Mine started leaking on my Jeep during COVID, it took 3 weeks to get into the shop. You'll be fine driving on it for a little while but you can wear out the other mounts (and it may shake a bit on start/idle/etc).

Not sure what the OEM mounts cost, but Steeda and BMR offer adjustable motor mounts. I have been running the Steeda mounts on my car for a little over 4 years and they‘ve been great.

I intentionally punctured one of my motor mounts from my 2013 GT and confirmed that they were in fact liquid filled. They are perfect if you like a plush ride though.

I went from Mach 1 mounts, which are a little bit firmer than GT, to BMR. To be clear, they added vibration.

Would it also be logical to assume that the (already criticised) body mounted shifter is likely to become more 'problematic' with a softer / damaged engine mount ?

Thanks for the replies all. While I would prefer the smoother ride provided by the OEM hydraulic mounts (especially given the condition of the roads around me), I'm not sure I have much confidence in their longevity anymore. Maybe the steeda solid bush mounts are indeed the way forward, even if it means a little more vibration.

There shouldn’t be any real NVH with the Steeda mounts. I have those and every other hardcore suspension part that you can think of and my NVH is about a 2-3 out of 10.

It's not difficult to do, I swapped both my engine mounts on jack stands. All you have to do is unbolt the mounts and jack up the engine and pull them out.

Yeah I’m a salesman not a mechanic lol, I have done it in past but I’m the wrong side of 59 and not as agile as used to be.
