Hey guys first post, just bought a 2020 Mustang Gt PP1 and we also have a 2014 Taurus SHO. The SHO will let me lock the car (while the car is running, key in my pocket) when walking away from the car with the door handle. It seems I have to lock the Mustang manually with my key fob if I want to walk away with the car running. Putting my finger on the sensor on the door handle does nothing(works perfect if the car is off). I can even unlock the car with the keyless entry after lock it with he key fob.

Is this an intended feature? If it is can I fix this with Forscan somehow ?

Yes. This normal operation. Why is it so inconvenient to use the fob? That's literally what it's for.

I suppose cause I got used to being able lock the car with the door handle while it’s running like on our SHO. Normally I get out with the keys zipped up in my work jacket, it would be nice not digging keys out to hit the lock button if I happen to stop somewhere and leave my car run for a few minutes. Still would be nice to find a way on Forscan to enable this . I guess for now I’ll resort to hitting the lock button on the inside of the car after I open the door if I’m leaving the car run.

Is the car a manual trans or auto?

If auto, when you remote start it, the doors should be locked while the car is running. You can walk up to the car with fob in hand and unlock the door without the click of the fob by touching the door handle.

If you have a manual trans, ignore the above because remote start isn’t a feature on the MT82 S550’s unless it was integrated with an aftermarket alarm system.

Are you sure a spare key fob isn’t in the car? Usually if the fob is in the car and the car is running, the presence of the fob inside the car prevents the door from being accidentally locked.

Makes sense, I have the 6 speed not the auto. No other keys in the car either.
