Keeping it clean: Metallic vs DIB

I've been planning this purchase for almost a year, but one doubt keeps cropping up. Magnetic or DIB? The metallic flake is stunning in the sunlight, and the DIB is deep enough to...well, you get my point.

The last 1/2 mile to my house is a dirt/gravel road. Tough to keep anything looking clean with the dust that kicks up driving it. I currently have a blue truck, and it never looks clean.

I know silver/ingot would show dirt the least. Is magnetic too close to black - will it show everything? Anyone with any experience with the DIB?

I'm not sure you can avoid a dirty looking car with any color given your situation. I must say that Magnetic seems to have an earthy base so it might help with looking cleaner after a dust bath.

G-Train...even your pavement is clean! Mine would be parked next to cow fields, gravel, and corn stalks. I don't know that I'd ever see that much blue paint on my car.

Reaper, I've been thinking along the same lines. My issue is that I'm so in love with the DIB...I love the Magnetic as well, but just not as much. But keeping it looking relatively clean is going to drive me nuts - no matter how perfect it is when I leave my driveway, it won't be looking that way when I finally hit the pavement.

If both paints were equally easy/difficult to keep looking great I'd probably go with the DIB. But if the Magnetic is a better choice, I doubt I'd regret it.

I live in the desert where dust is everywhere. The other day I washed my car, then took it for a photo shoot. I'd only driven a handful of miles to my destination and everything looked superb, until I went to open the trunk. That black deck lid was coated in dust. But you'll have that regardless of the color you choose.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder right? No doubt DIB is sexy, I also love Race Red, but I prefer more laid back colors other than white/black (cleaning + boring). I will say the Magnetic does give some interesting colors in different lighting/time of day situations. Many positive comments about the car and color will come your way regardless.

No doubt Magnetic seems to have a brownish base so it should definitely help with your circumstances. Like you said, I doubt you'll regret either color.

We have had a DIB Fusion for a couple of years, and it shows a lot of dirt. If you are obsessive over it, this would be a difficult car to live with. Magnetic would likely be easier to maintain.

That being said, and facing the same dilemma, I have decided to go DIB even with our rainy NW weather. It just looks so fantastic when clean, and even looks good when dirty, just not as good. We still get a ton of compliments on the color.

Either way, though, both colors look really great and you can't really go wrong, but DIB has a little more of the wow factor and Magnetic has a bit more aggressive and intimidating look in my opinion.

Reaper, I must agree the Magnetic seems to change depending on the lighting situation. I saw one at the dealership and walked around and around it...it seemed different depending on the angle and sunlight.

It was parked next to a black GT. I could see every dust spot on the black paint, but the magnetic looked flawless. Gives me hope that it's just far enough away from the black, and the magnetic flake helps too...so that the dirt won't show as much.

Certainly, I'd also say that scratches / chips might be hard to notice. I check every once in a while for the first "break in" chip or scratch but I'm not sure I would even notice when it happens .
