So after tons of searching various midlife crisis vehicles.....
I seriously considered Aston Martin Vantage, Jaguar F type, Porsche 911s and Caymans...... and came deathly close to buying a '14 GT500
I finally settled on a "used" 2020 Bullitt with 167 miles.
I like the idea of having a car that has a factory warranty, won't kill me in maint $, and is slightly less common than the million other mustangs out there, and I can ENJOY it w/o a lot of worry.

The trick will be getting it home.
See I'm in the burbs of Houston and the Bullitt is in Chicago.
I could have it shipped but that will turn my good purchase price into an average purchase price.
So what better way to get acquainted with it than fly up and drive it home.
One way flights on SWA are going for $50 and 5 tanks of gas should be under $300.
I'm looking forward to the trip and driving very carefully....

I'll post more as the trip starts. (hopefully Jan 9th)

Thats a good plan if you can get out of town without a lot of brin on the roads.
Congratulations

Congratulations on your new Bullitt! That’ll be a fun drive, as long as the weather cooperates with you. I had to go 5 1/2 hours south of me to Oklahoma to get my Bullitt, as a local dealer was trying to rape me for an additional $1500 on the exact car that we purchased. That particular dealer said they had to pay someone to go get the car for me, which was why the price was higher. I even offered to go pick it up myself. Long story stop is; we cut said dealer out of the transaction and they got to make $0 for trying to be greedy.

Yeah the weather will be a factor. I would ship it but I've heard nothing be horror stories about that unless you hire a premium enclosed carrier for $$$$$.
Oh the decisions....

When I found my perfect '09 GT500 some 5 years back, it was in Dallas, TX and I'm here in SE FLA. I tried to have it shipped home & needed it asap as my Stangs are my daily drivers & I didn't want to rent.

Could not work out a deal w/the shippers to get it home in a timely fashion so I bought the car, did all the paperwork online (car sight unseen!), then bought a one way ticket to Dallas, was met at the airport by a sales rep, drove to the facility where they handed me the keys and 25m later, I was driving eastbound towards home. We got well acquainted on that ride!

Fly up and drive her home, vigorously...
And congrats.

Looks like I may have to buy some all season tires before I drive home on Sat.
The forecasted high temps are 35deg on Saturday all the way past St Louis.
I've been reading that the Pilot Sport 4S tires can become damaged if driving at or near freezing temps. Whip out another $1K.......

That sucks that you’re going to have to swap rubber for the drive home. How are you going to get the original rubber back home?

I’m calling the dealership tomorrow to see what sort of deal we can swing to ship my 4 “used rubbers” back home. Lol. They have less than 200 miles

I sent 4 tires from alaska to Ohio usps. Taped two together, two shipments, ran me 60 bucks per set of 2. 120 for all 4
Couldn’t exceed 70 pounds was requirement.

You'll be glad you swapped out the Michi PS4S - not only are they greasy when cold, they can be permanently damaged by running them in ~30'ish weather.

Congrats!! I've driven my Bullitt 5+ hours on many occasions between l.a to sacramento. I will advise you buy a cheap bumper/hood cover as it is prone to rock chips more than other cars. At least in my experience

Not only can you damage them, but they lose considerable traction (even when the temps are below 50 degrees). Be safe and protect your Bullitt!
