Right front fender. Pulling it out of the service dept. to bring it to me for inspection. Didn’t even make it

How are they going to handle that for you? Hopefully, they will tell you to pick a body shop of your choosing, have it repaired and send the bill to them to be reimbursed. That is simply the right thing to do given the situation.

Have a safe trip home. Maybe you and your daughter can knock out the drive straight through and get a good rest upon returning home.

They were good about owning up to the error and said to send them the bill. As far as I’m concerned the fender is scrapped and will request a new Ford panel. No bondo this early. I’ll send the damaged panel back to the dealer with a copy of the receipt

I started the day at 167 miles.
just into Arkansas at 650 miles.
I’m only half way home.

I'd have refused to buy it, but fortunately, you're less anal than me. Ha ha. But I'd absolutely install a brand new Ford (not an aftermarket one) front fender. The trick will be to match the paint perfectly, and not leave your car smelling like a 10-yr old car, and your panels and seat scratched/scuffed/etc from them. I'd remove and install the fender myself, if that happened to me now that I own the car, so the car doesn't touch a bodyshop, but that's just me. Good luck with that brother, whatever you decide to do .

So Im finally home with very little sleep. I tried to push through this morning but felt it was safer to pull over and rest a bit.
I was trying to outrun the weather. unfortunately it caught me about 100 miles from home.
Lots of rain came in early this morning.

I'm now sitting with a 1250 mile car.

So hindsight being 20-20, should I have shipped it and spent $1200 and leave it to chance with a carrier? Who knows? Woulda Coulda Shoulda. I got to spend a day with my daughter and let her see the country.
The dent really took the wind out of my sails. Here again, had I not told him to put the car in the warm service bay overnight, I'd have a perfect fender.
I look at it this way, nothing worse happened than a fender dent and rain. I drove home much more subdued and maybe that helped me from doing something worse.

As for the repair, yes, I'm going to insist on a NEW FOMOCO fender. Then find the best paint guy possible. I thought it would be nice to find a wrecked Bullitt with a good fender but how long will that take and how good would it really be???
